[O...kay.... He's a little confused, but -- he smiles, shrugs it off] Well, it's very nice to meet a man who agrees with me on the subject of evolution, Monsieur Gabriel. [He sounds slightly out of sorts, calling the man in front of him by a name that is obviously a Christian name, not Surname...]
[ The look of confusion over an introduction is quaint and almost pathetic. Sylar doesn't intend to give anyone much information about who he is, yet alone a surname. ]
To fail to evolve is to lead to one's inevitable downfall. And, yet, so many people never seek to change themselves for the better.
Indeed,I quite agree, Monsieur -- Gabriel... [And he seems to be struggling a little bit with that name: does he drop the "monsieur" given that "Gabriel" here was clearly granting him permission to call him by his Christian name, or doe he continue with the formalities of the title?] I mean, I think that there's something almost-- sad about the people who've seemingly been left behind by Evolution...! [And that's why he pities most of the Muggles he's forced to kill as a Death Eater, rather than hating them the way his comrades-in-arms seem to...]
[ The confusion slowly turns into annoyance, as Sylar picks up on the Matthew's struggle with saying his name. With a furrow of his eyebrows, Sylar listens to this pathetic piece of humanity.
His lips curl up into a wolfish smile, but this fool does seem to get exactly what he's thinking. Oh, how annoyance quickly turns into amusement. ]
Those that are left behind and refuse to adapt, die. The answer is that simple. And there's nothing sad in the cold hard truth. Nature does not coddle those who aren't willing to adapt to an ever-changing world.
And, yet here we are the only species on this planet with complete control over its future. And we've done nothing to better ourselves, to prepare for what the future may bring.
Complete control is stretching it. We're limited by the nature of what we are, our lifespans, and the inability of individuals to affect the whole as deliberately as they might like to.
Ahh, I suppose so... [and Matthew grimaces slightly as he considers this question: did Mother Nature really give his kind their special abilities solely to press the Muggles' faces into the dirt-- to suffocate them with magic, in fact? To kill them, to leave them behind? Selwyn somehow doubted that.. For wasn't Nature inherently a gentle, loving sort of presence in their own lives...?] Indeed, I suppose Nature can be as cold and as cruel as it likes... It's when the people take it upon themselves to do away with the lesser forms that Nature has produced, that I take exception to...
[Don't worry, "Gabriel", he's talking more about himself; he's not a Legilimens, after all!]
lol~ xD have a Potterverse wizard here, Sylar...!
