Oh, I don't know, Doctor... Maybe it's because you left me on the damned sun once for a pretty girl? Do you remember that?
[[ ooc: it's okay if the Doctor does not in fact, remember that, because srsly, I'm just testing the waters with a Danny Boyle's Sunshine-esque plot...! xD <3 so sorry, Doctor...! i just couldn't resist anymore, using this handsome-as-fuck pb, and the damned Doctor in the same thread! lol~ ]]
[Stocke is deeply tempted. It doesn't help that the Doctor's method of time travel has another advantage: one can be in two places at once, rather than just replacing their past self in the timeline...]
[The Doctor gives a tight little smile, he isn't all flapping hands and
excitement this go around but he has great pride in his ship just the
same.]
Welcome to the TARDIS Rocket Raccoon...rule one....don't touch anything
unless I tell you it's okay or I'll bloody change your time line make no
mistake.
[Rude. The White Chronicle would be offended, if it weren't an entirely insentient book, unlike the TARDIS. ...probably insentient, anyway.]
[Not that Stocke cares.] As long as you help me with the timeline on Vainqueur, I would like to travel with you.
[His responsibility to his continent comes first. He hasn't even let himself go back to his present to visit his friends until he's done; he's not taking a break for adventure. Even especially exhilarating time-hopping adventure.]
[Helping would probably involve dropping Stocke off at various times and turning a blind eye to rather a lot of meddling.]
Re: sorry about the wait, had no internet yesterday
No fixed points, [Stocke agrees. Luckily, the influence of the two Chronicles on Vainqueuer seems to mean that time there can't truly be fixed, as long as someone has possession of at least one of them.]
[The size of the TARDIS gives him pause for a second, but not for the usual reason. Rather, he's thinking that something that large would be difficult to carry around like his Chronicle, and that has to be inconvenient - unless it travels of its own power? He doesn't say anything, though - the Doctor will handle working his own time travel device.]
[Without waiting anymore the Doctor opens the TARDIS and walks right in
leaving the door open so that his new companion can follow him. There isn't
much light coming from the door way itself but the Doctor doesn't stumble
at all.]
[And in they go. Once he notices the scale of the inside, Stocke immediately assumes that the TARDIS functions as a gateway, in the same way his book lets him enter Historia. The inside's actually another place - judging by the appearance, some sort of giant complex that uses thaumatech to fling them through time. Fair enough. (He's wrong, of course. But it's not a bad guess given his experience.)]
Where to first? Or when, perhaps. [Stocke's thinking that the reason the Doctor wants a companion is for backup, and to Stocke's mind that means he'll be acting as a mercenary. With the difference that he's being paid with TARDIS transport rather than money. He assumes equally that it'll mean the Doctor wants his help with something before going to Vainqueur.]
Not really sure, can't pick Clara up yet since she has school for another
week or so and I got her back late last time. I was thinking maybe heading
to Scotland and checking on Bonnie Prince Charlie...making sure the Zygons
aren't mucking about there again.
[Stocke pulls out the White Chronicle from wherever he keeps it, rifling through the pages for a moment. They should appear blank to anyone but him - but then again, the Doctor is also a time traveler, so who knows.]
[What's been giving him the most trouble... probably the time Protea burned her own city. He hadn't had time to save civilians, he'd had to make sure Eruca escaped, and if he went back and tried to redo it differently, Eruca would have burned. Then, forget his personal feelings, the ritual wouldn't have happened and the continent would've died. He'd been able to save some of them already, by traveling to a node even further back and warning people to be ready to leave, but not all of them were trusting of a stranger.]
The kingdom of Granorg, eventually. [He tries to make it clear he's fine with going along to Scotland first, though. By... not saying anything to the contrary. Good job, Stocke.]
...I assumed you'd want my assistance with something first. [Stocke isn't used to expecting help before having to do something in return - especially not with someone he barely knows. That's why the Doctor would want a companion... right?]

Doesn't pay...might get a meal out of it sometimes but no money sorry.

[The Doctor gives the man a hard look.]
Why wouldn't I want you? I'm here aren't I?
no subject
No pay. I can work with that. How about gadgets? Are there gadgets?
no subject
[The Doctor snorts as they reach an old battered looking blue box.]
Are there gadgets? Of course, wouldn't go swanning about the universe without them now would I?
[He opens the door and slips inside.]
Come on then, no time to waste.

[ He follows close behind, and pauses just across the threshold, dark eyes gone wide. ]
Saint Jehoshaphat on a pogo stick, they weren't exaggerating, were they?
[ He stares at the center console like he's looking up at the Mother Of All Things Shiny And Dangerous. ]

[The Doctor huffs softly as if any other form of time travel has no right to be called that.]
Of course I can, simple as pie when it comes down to it. Nodes are cavemen time travel...even a vortex manipulator is better then nodes.

Re: sorry about the wait, had no internet yesterday
I'll help where I can, but no fixed points not gonna get into that mess again.
[The Doctor waves at his TARDIS.]
Well are we done talking business or not? She's waiting.

Doctor I would like to go to Granorg? It's not bloody hard you know..just ask.

No nothing I need to for,. I just like having people around to ask questions so I can look clever.

...I'll make sure to ask a lot of questions, then.

Only ask what you feel you need to. No need to clutter up my ship with talking...still not used to my own voice after all.
