Main Street. [So says the fellow with his hands neatly tucked in his pocket.] Though I confess I don't know how you can be lost; it's not a very large town.
[St. Aloysius, a laid-back community in Australia. Nice place, the Maestro thinks.]
It's you. But you're a different you. Not the one I knew at all. So much younger and less... [Romana waves a hand, trying to find the right word.] off.
Of course. The one time I go off course, you have to be here to be all smug about it. Well, I guess now I know why my TARDIS took me out of the way. Hello, Doctor.
[Instinctively, Romana takes several steps back when she sees him moving toward her. The last time he had gotten that close to her, it had taken several guards to drag him off.
When he manages to take hold of her, it takes Romana several seconds to realize that she's not being attacked, but hugged.]
Oh. That's a bit...different. [She gives his back a pat.]
"Madragil Prime. They have a set of double moons and every year they have a harvest festival and I've never been." She sighed and consulted a piece of equipment in her hand. "Why Earth again?"
Rory blinked. "That told you something about me? Because most people from round here would assume you were crazy. And why earth? I don't know. But we get a lot of aliens here for a planet without space flight." He shook his head then offered his hand. "I'm Rory. And yes, I am a local."
Romana smiled and pocketed the instrument, reaching out to take the young man's hand. "Romanadvoratrelundar, but, I know that's a mouthful so you may call me Romana. And, as for what my little toy told me, it can pick up when someone has been in the Vortex. Which, you have, haven't you?"
"Romanadvoratrelundar." Rory nodded, only messing up one of the stresses, frowned, then winced very slightly as a flash of his Auton memories triggered at that name. "I have. And I'm delighted to meet you." Especially if the way the Nestene Consciousness thought about her was at all accurate. Or perhaps not, depending on the regeneration. Some of her had a reputation for ruthlessness, and Rory had seen first hand how ruthless the Doctor could be.
"Oh. Very good. I'm impressed. It is a bit of a mouthful." The smile lingered on her lips. Oh, Romana had done much in her time as the Lord High President. Like the Doctor, she wasn't proud of a lot of it. But, needs must and all that.
"Yes." Rory shrugged. A couple of trips with River via Vortex Manipulator weren't worth mentioning. "Who else would it have been? And you've often run into people who travelled with him?"
[The voice is heard in her head, not with ears. It's coming from the ocelot laying in a tree branch nearby you see. Angel usually doesn't speak to people in this form, but they usually don't feel this...different? Angel gets the feeling that this woman is about as out of place as she is on this planet.]
[Granted, he's never been one for physical affection. Politeness, yes, little pleasantries, but never a big 'ol hug. But, well, this is rather different circumstances than usual.
He never knew Romana too well, though. She was always level-headed, though. A good President, even if she had traveled with him.]
Oh! Sorry. So sorry. [He'll just step back now.] I just--I didn't think that there were any of us left.

[She stops mid-thought, head tilting to the side.] You. I know you.

[But then the woman, who he's fairly certain he's never seen before it in all his lives, says that she knows him. He gives a little shrug.]
Could be. I meet a lot of people, but I've got a funny sort of memory about it. Can never remember if--
Wait. Wait.

And you always accused me of getting us lost....I believe this is the universal sign of payback.

Romana?
[And then The Maestro's bounded over towards her and practically fell on top of her, arms out in a very not-Masterly hug.]

Hello Romana...it's been a long time.
[There is a clear smile in the Doctor's voice even though he still looks grumpy...damm eyebrows.]
As for being smug you wouldn't have know it was me otherwise.
