[Holding a gray feather, looking thoughtful]

Pretty. Not one of yours?

Oh dear LORD. Is that from an actual... Falcon? As in, the bird?!

[She smiles at the comment and looks up.]

No, mine are all much more flashy. [which was sometimes a burden, believe it or not.] This one came from a friend.

[Eliza looks up at the voice and smiles a little.]

You could say that.

Do you guys trade feathers for kisses or just good luck?

Mementos, and a little good luck. Sometimes I go a long time without seeing some of my friends. Feathers are easy to give away as gifts so we remember. and this time we're hoping the luck part sticks so our next visit isn't as....exciting as the recent one was.

Makes sense. Is it creepy like giving someone your hair though?

Oh yes? Could I also say-- something else about it...? Like, maybe it was a bird of prey? I mean, I think that there's something almost-- creepy about keeping such a bird's feather... Unless, of course, you need it, for like-- I dunno, a quill pen??

It's from a friend, who can be a falcon. She gave it to me as a gift to remember her by until next time we meet.

[She's usually more cautious about sharing strange information, her mind is somewhere else today.]

I suppose an outsider might think so, but it isn't to us. We get dozens of feathers every month from preening, have to find something to do with them. So we decorate with them, make things with them,sometimes give themas gifts to people we care about.

I dunno. I shed a lot of hair, but I'm not sure I want anyone tying it to their backpack as a reminder.

[She shrugs a little.] And yet I see humans putting feathers on masks and walking sticks and the like all the time. The only difference is we can provide said feathers ourselves. It's fairly common practice among people like me so we don't really think about it.

Yeah... I don't really... get the feather thing. But I'm kind of a weirdo I think.... I don't do leather or meat, so... [she shrugs]

I'm not judging. It's cool if it's not weird for you. I just wouldn't want to wear another person, you know?

That's fair enough. I'm probably more of a weirdo to be honest.
