[In a fairy bad and sulky mood and trying to figure out why she feels someone watching]

[ The small bird flits about following on thin branches, singing a cheerful mood to try to cheer her up. She doesn't like upset people. ]

[ Raine can tell, she flits ahead a little shifting to her human form. ]

Didn't think there'd be someone so bright here. Usually this town's just full of black crow wings.

There's no one here there's no one watching... I'm not a disney princess so the birds aren't here to keep me company... I'm not going crazier...

[ That gets you a very human laugh as the bird disappears behind you. ]

Oh please, Disney wouldn't know what to do with a story like mine. They can'd even do stories based on American history right.

Talking bird. TALKING BIRD. I have officially lost every last bit of my sanity.

A lot of animals talk you know.

Though... I'm more of a guide... Think the Cheshire cat with a lot more class. [ Now she's just playing with you Anna. ] You're not crazy, just waking up to what's really around you.

[Eliza will smile brightly and give a small curtsy.]

It's my understanding that very few exist that are as bright as me. I don't mind darker wings though. I travel, I have the time for it. I keep finding somewhere to go that I've never been.

I'm Raine, and I shouldn't complain too much about the crows. Two are my brothers after all.

I wish I could travel, no time for it really. I get to visit new places, but always for work. I swear I work more than Reapers.

I always figured my spirit guide would be a cat. [she is oddly reassured by that, actualy]

I'm not really your guide, but I can assure you you're not crazy. I'm just bored.

Not crazy, and not a Disney princess. So much disapoinent.

But not murdered and now I know birds talk. I guess it balanced out.

Raine, and you're not a fuck up. One of my brothers is, but he's gotten better... Well okay he's gotten better since dying, but hey sometimes it takes that.

Not that I'm saying you should actively do that, because really the other side's not that great and mostly boring. It's why I'm always busy. People getting reborn need guides to their new bodies and all that.

[That makes Anna laugh, and for a moment there's nothing but hysterics but she's gotten good at suppressing those and it only lasts long enough for a heavy wet sob before she puts on the face of normalcy]

Been there, done that, got a gold sticker and enough personal trauma and baggage to last another lifetime.

Well. Maybe you should take a vacation some time so you can travel for fun. Even a short one. Everyone needs a break some times!

[And this is one of the rare times where Eliza remembers that the people she talks to usually have far more responsibilities than she herself does. It probably helps that Raine was talking about work. The phoenix has a fairly carefree life, and it's entirely possible that her eternal cycle of death and rebirth and outliving almost everyone she meets by virtue of being something that will live forever has made her kind of crazy. But don't worry. most of the time she's harmless.]

Only time that's possible is if I'm damaged too much. And it does happen time to time, after all my brother is guide for the souls to the land of the dead, and I usually help him out when I can.

I've lived several lifetimes already. Probably could fill the library in Alexandria with my travels many times over.

[ She watches her. ] Wish to talk about it?

I died. And then I died again. And then I was burned alive in an oven. I haven't told my husband about that yet... he was trying to help. There's not a lot to tell besides that.

Aw, that's too bad! There's so much interesting stuff to see. But that's what you get I guess.
