[ It looks even older than it was when some stranger left him that toy besides his bed as a boy. The Doctor arches an eyebrow up; it was something to think about as he did his best to avoid Ood Sigma and his death. With a smile on his face, he pocketed the toy. ]
Yup. I remember finding it by my bed; one of my cousins must have left him there while I slept in a barn. [ He doesn't remember much more of anything, alas as time got the better of those memories. Still the little soldier without a gun was something he understood. The man who never would, that's him. At least he thinks it his. ]
That old thing has gone with me through everything, a toy soldier who's brave enough not to need a gun to solve his problems. [ The Doctor calmly says, with a gloomy look on his face. ]
[He grins and sits beside his double. He figured they didn't have much time..crossing one's own timeline was dodgy at best and it wouldn't do well to linger. He remembered that toy soldier as well as the man beside him.]
Yeah, more than likely. After all, not like it would have been anyone else...maybe mum or dad but doubtful. Fear is a super power...it can help you do fantastic things. [He remembers that dream fondly.]
[ The Doctor's not sure where in his time line this Doctor comes from, so with a word he learned from Professor song he simply says. ] Spoilers. [ He pops the p. There's no need to drag both of them down after all. He quickly pockets the old toy so not to lose it.
He starts to pick and pull through those memories of his, but he just vaguely remembers the voice of a young woman talking to him. He never did figure who she was out, but it was so long ago. ]
I always thought it was one of my cousins who left if there for me. Them or our father. [ He doesn't ever really recall his mother, but it doesn't seem to matter much in the end. They're all gone now. Each one of them but him. Of course, that is about to change if he lets time catch up to him. ] It was one of those little things I based my life off, well one of those small things.
[Having met Professor Song himself he can't help but chuckle at that word. He himself was procrastinating as well on his quest to visit Ood Sigma. He'd just left Captain Adelaide Brooke's home where he's foolishly tried to change a fixed point in time.] Doubt there's much you could spoil really...though I must say that word is starting to get annoying. Unless you've figured out who she is and it's making you sad or something.
[He's always tried so hard to be a good man, to do the right thing and lately he knew he hadn't really been doing such a good job of that. Perhaps it was time for his song to end...he'd been alone for far too long.]
Such a small thing really...but it helped in the end really...we've managed to try and find other ways of helping instead of resorting to violence straight off.
[ The Doctor's mood fades in favor of curiosity, he's never ran into 'himself' in the sense of being literally himself. He knows crossing his own timeline could be disastrous, and he steps back from the other Doctor with the same face. It seems to be a bit safer when he meets other regeneration. But there are questions he needs to ask. ]
Right. But before we continue with this nice chat, I'd like to know when you are. The last thing I need to do is to create a paradox over chatter about what I had for dinner. [ He knows there is plenty he can spoil. But even as the old Time Lord Victorious, he still had rules he follows without question. ]
And that in itself seems like minute compared to the trouble we've caused in our lifetime.

Why so glum, Doctor?
