Oh yes, indeed. I quite agree: the values being taught to children these days are-- no values at all, really... I mean, whatever happened to "grace", as in "graciously accepting any gift given to you"? :: And Tommy pulls a slightly apologetic grimace at the other man :: So... what brought up that particular observation, anyway? Has someone rejected a gift you offered...?
Well danke! I thought I'd give one of my oldest characters a whirl again
Oh, yes? And... how exactly will it affect you in the present times, or "near future" as you put it, if the action itself is not recent...? :: So sorry; Curious Tommy is even worse than Curious George for his nosiness! ::
Oh, yes? Well, I can definitely understand feeling-- so bloody old as all that! I mean, sometimes I do feel as if I've lived ninety years-- or even a HUNDRED and ninety-- in my mere thirty. :: And Tommy chuckles a little bit, albeit nervously, since he can't quite place this gentleman's age, and thus cannot tell how much older he may actually be compared to Tommy ::
[The extra years show in the lich's demeanour, which does tend to throw off guesses as to his age. As someone who reached and passed the one hundred and ninety mark, Lichtenstein offers a sceptical look.]
Thirty is regarded as young or middle aged. It hardly offers a century's worth of experience.
Oh, yes, I am aware of that! I meant, only-- well... I do feel much older than my years sometimes... :: And he chuckles nervously again :: I mean, you obviously seem much younger than your-- I'm guessing, fifty-odd years...? :: Tommy is a man of maths and science, not of supernatural studies, of course, so he doesn't know a blessed thing about the creature in front of him, or what a Lich even is! :: I mean, sorry if I'm off by a few years, or so...? :: Another nervous chuckle escapes him ::
[Still, he doesn't move. Not even his expression changes. It's nearly impossible to tell whether or not he's bothered by this at all.]
Perhaps you shouldn't try to guess the age of strangers. Or anyone. You are still young by many people's standards. I'm told you should enjoy youth. You should too. It feels different when you actually are old.
:: Tommy pulls another apologetic grimace, and quickly backtracks :: I meant forties, of course! Not even sure why I said fifties-- no wait, I do know why, rather... Because you spoke of centuries, and to the best of my knowledge, no one has ever made any human being who can last to live past a century, looking as good a you do... And thusly, my mind went to half a century, and ran from there!
:: His normally-pale face is turning a healthy shade of pink, as he flushes with embarrassment, grimacing yet again, and then makes a small-ish bow to the older gentleman, as he backs away from him. :: So sorry to have offended you, sir... If I did in fact, offend you... I mean... Sorry.... Either way: I am sorry!
Indeed, I have... All the bloody time, that is to say! I mean... sorry again.... I mean, I honestly do think of thinking before I speak, but-- well. My mouth tends to run away with itself, when I'm nervous-- which is-- really all the bloody time, when it comes to talking with other people, on a personal level... Sorry again, sir! :: And he chuckles nervously again ::
{{ps: and sorry this is so bloody late; i have some sort of flu bug, and thus-- well. i had to go to bed a little bit early (like, from 7 PM to 6:30 AM! lol!)}}
Oh yes, of course! Sorry... :: And of course, he grimaces again, even as he does get back to his point :: I meant to say, well-- you look rather young, yourself... A-and thus-- well... I don't see where you get off telling me to "enjoy my youth!" :: Tommy then gulps a little, as he suddenly realises he may have been a little too forward, as far as speaking what he meant to say, on his mind ::
Oh yes...? I mean, you're-- you are quite fortunate, to look so young, however far over the half-century line you happen to be. I can hardly think of anything "youthful" when I look in the mirror in the morning, and see grey hairs. I mean, honestly: you have grey hairs, too, obviously, but-- on me, a man of-- alright, not even quite yet thirty-- well... It's not quite as flattering on me, do you see what I mean...? :: Tommy fluffs his hair out a little bit, as if to show off his grey hairs ::
((ps: i was just wondering what that particular icon keyword means: "that doesn't make you sane"...? i mean, it sounds intriguing to me, rather like your profile, but... i'm not sure what it's referring to! xD ))
[Lichtenstein hasn't discussed his own appearance before. Or not in a long time. Not beyond 'quit the walking dead look'. He's... not entirely sure how to react to all this.]
That is natural for some people to get at an early age. Some people can be born with white hair or white with their other natural hair colour. I have seen twenty year olds with black and white hair.
((I just applied phrases to them that either Lich would say or were relevant. He's snarky at everyone, so most of the icon phrases are too.))

People judge gifts and have a tendency to scorn those that don't match their ideas of value.
((ps: i find your ideas VERY intriguing, on your profile, there! =D <3))
Well danke! I thought I'd give one of my oldest characters a whirl again
It is not actually limited to any particular generation.
Not recently, but the lesson is one that is inevitably going to affect my actions in the near future.
((bitte schoen! and funnily enough, this is one of MY oldest characters, too. lol!))

Have you ever considered taking a deep breath and thinking before you speak?
