For the blood spilled during the hunts. It was a dangerous time to be food in the old days... fat from summer and on the cusp of winter.

Ahh, I see.... Indeed, I suppose it was a dangerous time to be game animals, back in the day... And even now, of course, given that we're still meat-eaters these days...

Well generally the industrial farming slaughter is all year round, but the more domestic side of things, t'is is the season.

Ah yes, I suppose that is true... I mean, of course, I do tend towards the more-- domestic side of things, as you put it, as I like to know how the animals I am eating were treated in life...

I like lunar eclipses, and it's an interesting moon to have one on. Plus I haven't had a chance to see one since I moved here. So I'm interested to see what it's like in another place.

And being the eclipse of a blood moon, there may even be an interruption in the hunt.
Or the lack of moonlight will make it more difficult for those without nocturnal vision to escape the great hunts.
