(The sound of a voice snaps him out of his thoughts. He looks over and sees Dr. Wells. Slowly he starts to decrease his speed eventually getting to a slow walk.)
I'm sorry. Did you say something? I was... (Distracted? Could he say that?)
(He raised his other arm to his head. Okay, he might have overdone it a little with how long he was running. Especially with not keeping up with his new requirements. He just needed to get out of himself for a bit and he could only feel that way while he was running.
Dr. Wells grabbing his arm was enough to balance himself. At least he didn’t pass out… yet. He moved to sit down.)
[Harrison's calm snark had no real bite to it though if Barry cared
to listen there was a note of worry there. He hands Barry an ice cold
Mountain Dew.]
(That was his way of saying that it wouldn’t happen again. Not that he was entirely sure that it wouldn’t. It was hard to keep up with his new metabolism. Although this had more to do with what he was feeling than forgetting about his metabolism.)
Thanks.
(He took the Mountain Dew from him. He took a sip before he spoke again.)
There is always work to do...and I haven't slept well since the accident.
[More like he won't let himself sleep that is. Harrison's guilt
keeps him awake at night. And he understands what Barry is struggling with
more then Barry knows. He places a pizza box between them.]
[Wow, when Barry had told her he went out jogging now, he wasn't kidding. She had never seen him as serious as he was right in that moment. Iris stood in the doorway, watching him, wondering when their living room had turned into a makeshift gym. Maybe it was her father's doing. Iris didn't know, but watching him, she grew a little worried.]
Barry... Are you alright? You look a little tense.
[Harrison falls silent for a moment, out of everyone he understands
what Barry is going through.]
Barry even if you hit a new top speed you may not be able to save everyone.
I understand that death hurts believe me I understand. But you cannot let
the guilt weigh you down.
(This wasn't the fastest that he could run. It was no where near how fast he could move but this wasn't Star labs. It was in the middle of his living room. One of the people knew of his secret but he still had to protect it from Iris.)
You aren't the only one who feels this kind of guilt. I feel it everyday
because I know it's my fault there are meta humans in Central City and that
Cisco's tech is loose.
Barry....being a hero isn't all about the costume and the spotlight. It's
about the struggles too. They will teach you more about yourself then
anything else.

[Harrison calls softly but firmly.]
Barry...stop.

[A soft sigh and Harrison wheels closer]
Barry you need to eat I ordered pizza.

You've been running for three hours. Eat and I'll show you how I checkmated you.
[It's playing slightly dirty but Harrison hopes it works.]

Although he couldn’t say no to finding out how he was checkmated.)
You have a deal.
(He took a step off the treadmill and stumbled forward.)

[Mentally cursing himself for being unable to stand and rush Barry, Harrison wheels close enough to lean forward and grip Barry's upper arm.]
Easy Barry...easy come sit down.

Whoa, I guess I overdid it.
(He pushed his face into his hands.)

You think?
[Harrison's calm snark had no real bite to it though if Barry cared to listen there was a note of worry there. He hands Barry an ice cold Mountain Dew.]
Sip this.

Is what Cisco did still bothering you?
no subject
I don’t blame him for what he did. He was just being prepared.
no subject
Then why stress your body like this? Barry tell me what's bothering you.
no subject
He died because I wasn't fast enough. I have to be faster.
I've wanted to tag you since I saw your post. Mind a change of location for the treadmill?

He was right in front of me. If I was just a little faster I could have saved him.
no subject
What?
(He slowed down.)
Oh, yeah. I'm fine.
(It was a lie but what else could he say.)
