[Hey Mari, there's a teenage boy watching you from a park bench on the other side of the path. He's trying very hard not to be obvious but he can't help staring.
Eventually he hauls himself up from the bench and wanders over, glancing around like he expects somebody to be watching him.]
Are you trying to get caught or are you just new at this?
Push! That's an awesome movie. I should watch it again sometime. <3
[The hushed voice causes Mari to twitch in place and lose concentration. The nanotech in her body idles to inactivity.
Mari looked up an saw the kid, quite sure she was out of sight by the Sullivan's Carnival entrance, her safe haven and temporarily new home. It's been full of people who were actually born with special abilities.
What he just said confused her for just a split second before she also lowers her voice.]
...You're one of them too? [Then she pauses, and becomes guarded around him.] Luckily it was just you that noticed. I'm not like the others.
[Feeling a tad annoyed, she rambles a little. As she does, she keeps the volume in her voice down.] I've had what I've had for years. And next time, I'll be all the more careful.
[Damn it, this is why it sucks having to be far from Home Nexus. Never had to worry about situations like this.
Thank goodness she had found her friend Peter's older brother shortly after getting the cosmic boot from her reality to theirs, but she still misses those she'd loved like a second family. Very much so.]

nghhh it is. i got nostalgic and watched it yesterday and had to give my bb his story c:
I've never seen one that can do tech before. Never heard of one either.
[Granted, he's two years out of touch, but he's a Shadow; eavesdropping on things he's not supposed to know isn't exactly difficult.
He eyes her like some new and novel Thing, a look eerily familiar to anyone who's run into Division before, but he remembers himself, clears his throat, and the irritated scowl returns.]
Push OC's are fun. Tagged another long ago as one of my monster-like muses.
[[ooc: BTW, Push stuff combined with stuff from the old series Heroes in an AU verse. Innnteresting. :D My OC in addition is part AU Blassreiter anime. More innnnteresting.]]
[Mari did hear a lot about a time when the government was hunting down these specials, and Peter's brother Nathan had foolishly made the mistake of leading the whole thing. Although, it's uncertain if this Division he knows goes hand in hand with the near fatal mistake Nathan's been atoning for the rest of his days, protecting people like himself with genetic-based abilities at this carnival.
She hadn't been around on this world the time all that happened... Towards the kid who made her feel a tad bit comfortable, she answered vaguely.]
I'm one of a kind, and not from anywhere around here.
[When he scowls, she looks back at him irritably. A little sarcasm can be heard in what she says next, not at all raising her voice.]
Excuse me for slipping up, and upsetting you. Nobody's perfect, and I'm careful as I can ever be about this. Believe me, I know damn well what would happen if I were to be discovered by the wrong people.
[She sighs as her eyes lower, mentioning a little about the ongoing fight she and her loved ones could not avoid. A fight for survival. These fairly recent memories make her feel miserable sometimes.]
I wouldn't want to see anything like the awful shit a maniac originally started back where I came from...
[Then, she looks back to him, a very serious and stern expression on her face. It'd be important and decent to voice out a warning about these nano-bots inside her. Out of defense towards herself and this clueless teen, she doesn't have much choice but to warn him.] Look; Between you and me, you'd be better off not upsetting me too much. I'd rather keep my self control, and prevent these nano's from taking over and make me act like a monster.
I don't want to endanger my friends back there behind us either.
[She sighs, and mentally tells herself to chill. Don't get all worked up over this. Just tell him the important stuff. She calms down some, yes, but she still sounds somewhat irritable as her gaze averts again.]
I don't anger easily, though I still would rather not let any of that happen... It's a dark, scary side I hate. I'm always aware of it, and I don't want to infect anyone with what I have. There's no cure for it.
[The sound of the nearby gravely voice startles Mari a bit as she turns and looks towards who must be curious about what she's doing. Her concentration of the several tiny machines in her body breaks as they idle into inactivity as she does...
On all fours, there's balding creature with big blue eyes...and teeth that didn't look brushed.
Crap. She was hoping get her cell's battery filled real quick, and unnoticed. So much for that.
Maybe he hadn't really seen what I was doing? Maybe he's not going to be any trouble, she thinks to herself, assuring herself that she was safe.]
...A cell phone. [Out comes her hesitant answer. Okay, let's try not to be so nervous here. The smile on her face though doesn't cover up the nervousness as she adds;] Um, welcome to Sullivan's Carnival. [He looks like a homeless person of some kind.]
*He only looks like a homeless person if you've never seen one before. This becomes more obvious as he moves out of the shadows, revealing his small size, long fingers and very sharp fangs.*
What is being phoneses, Precious, and why did it get put in a cell?
We's traveled all of Middle-Earth for . . . minusss four is five, minusss three is two . . . eighty-two yearses, Precious, and we's not heard of such a place before. What land is this being, my love?
Oh good, my OC feels somewhat less threatened now. XD
Something seems familiar when he says Middle Earth. Okay, she has an idea on where he's from...but isn't really sure who this is. She's only actually met a dwarf from Middle Earth who was stuck a while in the world she originally came from. Of course. Phones and such don't exist in Middle Earth. In being the discreet fourth waller she is, she won't mention anything about J.R. Tolkiens novels she never got around to reading, nor the films she only heard about from a friend back at Home Nexus, the world Mari hopes to get back to, sometime soon. She's going to keep that stuff to herself.
Well, the nervousness Mari shows starts to die down, for she knows she can help him somewhat. The guy may look a little creepy, but he's lost regardless. Stranded from his own world. Poor fella. She starts to feel a little sorry for him.]
I guess you've never seen one before. A phone is a device that can be used to communicate to someone, especially when they're far away. And, no, not like a prison cell. Sort of like the living cells in organisms.
...Did you ever take biology class? Did Middle Earth provide such lessons, on the science of life and living things? [It's best to ask him that before using the word "network" around him, explaining the definition and all a bit.]
I never got a chance to talk much with Thorin about this stuff, who comes from the same world you do. Do you know him, Mr...?
Oh, by the way--where you are? It's an entire world away from Middle Earth.
Edited 2015-01-06 00:17 (UTC)
Yaaay. And really, I think Gollum wouldn't care one way or the other about Tolkien :D
[She's thinking a moment...] Seeing Stones? I don't believe I've heard of those.
Ah, I see... [That means she'll have to be as simple as possible on the explanations of how technology works. It's very, very different from magic. Mari has a decent knowledge on both those areas.] Well, it'll be a while until you understand how tech works. It's not alive, and it's very different from magic. How it works, and how it's used...
My name is Mari Broderick. [She's thinking about what he's saying.] Yeah, I think you're right, but why do you call Baggins nasty?
[Smeagol, Gollum... She feels she's recognizes those names, but her knowledge on things Tolkien is just lacking. Perhaps learning from this Smeagol about Middle Earth could be more beneficial to her later, in case she comes across anymore folks stranded from his world.
Unfortunately, Thorin hadn't been around nearly long enough to get to know. He was an okay guy, and they got along. The thing she remembers about him most was his strong hatred towards dragons. (He also disliked elves, but dragons ever more so) Angelus, from another medieval times setting of a world, was a dragon--yet she was not out to get anyone. Especially not Thorin. Together, the two have learned not all dragons are terrible.
It would be quite an interesting story to share with Smeagol, for sure.]
He'd just assume the story spread. And maybe he's right! (Any chance of links to this Thorin stuff?)
The Black Hand? [Mind backing up and explaining on that part?]
[Now Mari's feelin' a little confused here. What's with Precious this and Precious that...?] What do you mean when you speak of this "precious"? What is it, exactly?
Wait, I think I know what you mean... The Eye of Mordor, right? [She rambles;] I know I remember being told about that, sometime last year.
[She eyes Smeagol cautiously there. He's starting to become a bit crazed there. Can't let him cause her to act jumpy, or really upset--for something really, really bad would happen that neither of them would want.] Be cool, Smeagol. Be calm... I'll just accept that this was your most prized possession.
[[The Lord of the Rings in 60 seconds is also amusing, and some of those HISHIE ones too.]]
Yeah, I heard right then. A, uh, friend of mine told me about that. [Hadn't seen him in a while though. I do hope he's all right...]
[She notices for the first time that parts of the skin on one of his hands has a gold shine to it. She glances there a moment.] Dare I ask, what happened to your hand?
[Her answer about this certain friend of hers is going to be vague. Sorry. She's protective of him out of habit. The same goes for a lot of the others she cares for very much.]
No. He's someone I've known much longer in Thorin. From a place sort of like this world, originally--but a bit different. The only other thing I can tell you is that he's heard more about the tale than I have.
[The smallest of smiles emerges.] So, you can still go invisible, if you wanted to?
Sometimes, I wish I had that ability. Though, I have the second best thing; the ability to go really, really fast.
[No harm in sharing that, Mari's decided. There's actually a proud grin emerging upon the mention of her nano-enhanced speed.
She's picking and choosing what she feels is okay to share and what isn't.
After all, she doesn't know or trust Smeagol well enough to share the more... sensitive stuff. Especially what pains her to so much to even think about, of her messed up past.]
[[She doesn't care to eat such skinny creatures such as him, or humans anyway. She's racist about not only most humans, but toward all the "savage, mindless" slave Imperial Dragons too, in her world. She deems them as hopeless "beasts".
Drakengard is a very dark and messed up canon, but I still like it.]]
[The bit of a smile and curiosity in her brown eyes would have her seem like she's saying, Oooo, that's interesting...] Immortality, huh? And you're all right with that?
[She nods.] Much faster, yep. A blur.
That's nice. But wes is going to sleep now, sad to say
Yeah, I'm sure that could work out... If and when you ever get back to Middle Earth, that is. [She feels a bit empathetic towards him on that. She misses those at Home Nexus a lot. Nathan, Elsa, and Ricky are all good people here--as well as Peter and Noah, two guys she already met--but her second family she still thinks and prays for often.]
[She smiles at him when he's impressed. Perhaps they could get along just fine.] Until then, I guess you could stay here at the carnival, if you'd like. [Smeagol doesn't seem so bad, compared to truly terrible monsters, and crazies.]
I'll have to talk to my good friend Nathan about this. He's someone in charge of this safe place. I'll let you two meet, and we'll see how it goes from there. Okay, Smeagol?
Gah, randomly awake . . . did you see my headcanon post, by the way? I added a bit
[If she ever has the time to think about what happens after she dies--hopefully of old age with sanity in tact--she'll ask to be cremated.
However, there's something she doesn't know about; Home Nexus's plans for her. Mari is much more important to her world now than she realizes. She's yet to know of this. Possibly very soon she will, along with reuniting with someone she's known like a "younger brother" she's never had.]
A carnival is an amusement park. A place with games, rides, and circus performances to see. [Mari smiles a little, interested to see his reaction to such surroundings.] Would you like a little tour?
