[ Optimus Prime isn't alone at the battle zone, Steve is there alone looking at the damage that was done. It wasn't until it was long over that he arrived at the scene, and he's got no idea who or what did this. Nobody seems to have an answer, and SHIELD sent him out here to find an answer. The job would have been better for Romanoff, but with her off doing her own thing, he was the next best thing.
He surveys the battlefield while pearched on the seat of his motorbike, and he as he continues to dodge the debris he stumbles across something he wasn't expecting. He brings the bike to a halt, and Steve just looks 'up' at the big guy. He hopes whatever it is, isn't a threat.
Or SHIELD sent him out here to investigate Prime without telling him everything. He remains on the bike, and he slides the goggles up over his helmet. With a hint of a smile, Steve motions with a gloved hand out to end result of the battle. ]
I suppose you can't explain to me what happened here. [ He's got no idea what he's in store for. ] That's if you can talk.
[Optimus is busy checking for any remaining life signals, scanning out over the scene by the time Steve arrives. He glances over at him, surprised that a human made it this far out, before turning and kneeling, his expression grave]
I can. And the details of this battle are unfortunate. One of my team encountered an ambush here, and was forced to retaliate.
There doesn't seem to be many survivors at this point.
I'd be careful where you step, energon has been spilled here, and it is a deadly poison to organic life.
[ Learning to expect the unexpected is something Steve has come to expect ever since he was revived. And Optimus is as unexpected as they come. He continues to look up, as he places a foot down on the ground to help balance the bike. The look on his face becomes grim as he learns there were no survivors, and he lowers his head to give it a look of his own. ]
I'm sorry for your friend. But I don't think you should give up hope about there being survivors. At least not yet. Sometimes even in the grimmest situations, people's willingness to survive can surprise you. [ At the warning about the blue stuff on the ground near his foot, and he pushes the bike back just a bit to avoid coming in further contact with it. He might be durable, but Steve isn't immortal. ]
One can... only hope for the moment. He's a strong mech, he wouldn't let this overtake him.
[Optimus relaxes a touch when Steve moves away from the spill on the ground, going to kneel. He didn't want him to strain his neck any more than he had to]
A group of Decepticons. I don't know if they had names or if they were... merely Eradicons, but I do know they must have been very skilled.
[ Steve can understand how anyone no matter if they're human, or perhaps even a machine might feel after any event like this. The robot battlefield is chilling, and the amount of destruction is damn impressive. Lower his head, Steve's lips flatten and he looks at awe at what remains.
Then he looks back to Optimus with the still somber look on his face. ] The war can do things to one minds no matter how strong they might appear to be. I still would check up on him to make sure he's okay. [ He still has no idea what he's gotten himself involved with.
And back to looking at the war zone, Steve, and this gets a raise of an eyebrow from Steve even if it is hard to see with his helmet on. ] I never heard of the Decepticons before, but I'm sure they could have had names. But either way, I agree they were skilled. But anyone with a taste for destruction can cause damage on a large scale, skilled or not.

Thanks for the warning. Might I ask who did this?
