He shook his head, letting his wings both settle down closer to his shoulders, used to keeping them folded down tight under a jacket, "No. But I've been blind now longer than I could see. I just learned how to cope as quickly as I could."

Mostly because while he knew the Flock wouldn't have left him behind, he hadn't wanted to be a burden on them if he could help it, and it had turned out that he was more capable than even he'd expected to be.
