"Ooh, don't mind if I do," says the skinny little brunette who had just been passing through this woman's kitchen, on her way to-- who knows where? Who really cares!? There are free cupcakes here! She might actually be able to gain a little bit of weight before her next damned Healer's physical for the Auror Corps...
"Wonderful! I'll eat them all if I'm left to it." Janie smiled, and didn't seem to think it odd that someone just randomly walked through her kitchen. Probably because she'd appeared in her own share of random kitchens. "You can sit if you'd like, I still have milk. I try to keep soda out, because I'd drink it all."
"Oh, do you mean like, Coca Cola? Always Refreshing, Always Fun?" And the younger(-looking) brunette giggled and grinned up at the motherly figure she only wished she'd had as a child, as she indeed, takes a seat in front of the PILE of cupcakes. "But milk is fine with me, ta-- so long as it's not skim milk, that is to say!" She giggles again, of course, at the very idea that this woman, who is Obviously Trying to Fatten Her Up, was going to feed her any such thing as skim milk!
"Or Live it now. Pepsi. I drink whatever is on sale." Janie smiled. She was a popular Mom with kids, mostly because she would give her daughter and friends so many sweets. "Oh, I would never skim milk! I don't even like the gallons from stores. When I was a kid, we had fresh milk and cream."
It wasn't very long ago that she was a kid, Janie realized, as she poured a big glass of milk for her guest. "Now I want a Coca Cola... I am eating a lot lately."
"Ooh, yes? Well, then, we really are kindred spirits, aren't we?" And the young brunette beamed up at the other woman as she watched the whole-fat, "homo" milk being poured out. "I mean, honestly: I also had fresh milk-- at least, from the milkman who came door-to-door, straight from the country-- in those glass bottle and all, y' know...?" She giggled again a little at the memory of her milkman, who always-- always-- slipped her family a little extra butter over what they paid for, and begged her parents to fatten her up a little bit, because kids weren't meant to be virtual skeleton models, after all! (Of course, there was nothing that they could really do, given that she already ate copious amounts of fatty red meat, and bread and butter too, of course...)
"We had a neighbor with a cow, and some chickens." Janie smiled at her
memories "And a little garden out back. Way out in the country." She did
miss how easy everything seemed then, but now wasn't the time for
memories. She had a guest. "Oh! I'm Janie. It's really nice to meet
you, I don't get many guests, unless they're my daughter's friends. They
are always in and out here. None of the moms are too happy with that."
"Oh aye? Well, that must have been nice to have, indeed..." Maria smiles gently up at the other woman, grateful for a name to put with the face. Then, she realises quite suddenly that she has not given her own name, yet. "Well, it's nice to meet you, as well, Janie! I'm Maria, and thanks so very much for feeding a poor little "waif" such as myself-- even if these delicious cupcakes have, in fact, distracted me from my true purpose here... Which I may be able to remember, once all these cupcakes are out of sight, down my gullet..." She grinned unrepentantly up at Janie, through a mouthful of cupcake.
"Yes, it was. There's nothing like it. It's nice meeting you Maria but you're not really a waif, you're just slim." Janie looked over the younger woman, and nodded "My Aunt is like you. She can eat a cow but is as thin as a reed. She's always been that way. If I eat too many cupcakes I will get fat, I'm almost certain. I think so anyway. So, eat them. My roommate is always baking. If you live near here, you can stop by again." She took a breath "What was your true purpose?"
*He looks nonplussed for a bit, but then shrugs and takes one. Sometimes one of the more lucid people back home lets him have something for free, in remembrance of what he was to his hometown before Strex, so this is not actually incomprehensible to him.*

[Well, since she was insisting, he takes her up on the offer, picking one up and taking a bite as he goes to reply, his approval evident on his face]
They're really good - thanks!

[Because he can't take a freebie without introducing himself at least. Plus, she's pretty cute. Win win.]
