And the more they try to manage it the more they're going to end up loosing control of their animal side. Not me. I'm going to embrace the animal inside of me, and trying to control it wouldn't do anyone any good.
[ He plops his boots on top of the desk in front of him, Riddick clasps his hands over his chest. Finding himself on a habitable Earth wasn't something he was expecting, but so long as it keeps him out of a slam it is all the better.
With a smug smile, he steeples his fingers and he stares out into what seems to be space. ]
Hey, I'm not about to shank every person I see here on the street. Even if the idea is highly tempting, but I still keep that animal who prowls inside of me on a leash. And it seems that right now I have to keep it on a real tight leash.
Can't say I like this place, and I don't know how you people managed to get up there to join the wilds of space. Oh, right, despite all of this civilization, you managed to fuck up our home. Cause even an animal has enough common sense than to shit in its own den.
[Charles makes a thoughtful sound, a smile curving his face.]
A good friend offered to show me the stars. [But interplanetary girlfriends aside...]
Humans singularly can make a difference, as individuals. Humanity itself does at times seem less intelligent as a whole. That in itself is not a reason to discount the entire race. In fact, in a few hundred years, our species will not be what it is now.
[ And Riddick doesn't mention the fact he is not a human. And for now, he'll go along with the wayward human traveler who was stuck on Earth. But he knows that right now humans lack the ability for intergalactic travel. And his eyes begin to wander, and he nods his head towards a cabinet. ]
Did they? I didn't realize you could leave your own orbit, yet alone leave your own neck of the solar system yet. Now I'd be less willing to discount the entire human race if you can find me a drink.
And that is the one thing this planet is somewhat good at, alcohol. [ Riddick's faith in humans is no different from anyone else out there among the stars. He's out there looking for number one and nothing else out there matters. ]
[A fact that Charles is very curious about. But he makes no mention of yet.]
Not without help. The moon is as far as we have traveled thus far. But perhaps, in the future...
[Charles gestures to the cabinet, please be his guest.] There should be some scotch in there that is 20 years along. [He enjoys a good drink as well, though now not as much as his younger days. Before the wheelchair.]
[ Riddick pushes the chair on wheels towards the cabinet, and he goes to help himself to the bottle of scotch. He can use a hard drink to help speed up his recovery from having wrecked his ship. That's what he gets for trying to sling shot the wreck around a sun to avoid capture from a group of bounty hunters who were on his tail.
He grabs hold of the bottle, and without much effort, he twists off the lid and tilts the bottle back and he takes a long hard drink. The burn of the scotch against the back of his throat is nothing more than glorious. ]
Are you tryin' to get me to tell you something about your future? You'll make it past this neck of the woods just fine. If that's what you need to know.
[Charles leaves him have the bottle, pushing his own wheelchair up to pour himself a slightly smaller drink over the rocks.]
Not at all. I am hopeful for the future of mankind. We are seeing new abilities now that seem to defy known logic and the laws of physics. It's really quite exciting.
[He takes a sip of his drink, looking at the man as if he might be able to see right through him.] Most do not wear dark glasses indoors.
[ Riddick takes another swig from the bottle in his hand, and he doesn't look ready to give it up. And he raises an eyebrow about these abilities, and he wonders if he might be able to figure out how to use this knowledge to work on getting back home. He was searching for Furya when everything went to shit. ]
I haven't had much time for reading the history books, so why don't you tell me all about these things. Because right now, I need to see about getting my ship fixed and myself off of this rock before I die of boredom.
[ Riddick isn't all too happy when Charles speaks to him from inside of his mind, and he gets up from his seat. And he looks anything but happy as he slides his hands back to where his shivs would be. But he does his damn best to keep his temper from getting the best of him. ]
Do that again, and next time I won't hold back. And let me guess, you're supposed to be this next leap in human evolution.
[He might find Charles a bit difficult to attack, should the need come over him again. While Charles was one for diplomacy and helping others above all else, he was also the strongest telepath on the planet. Even if he didn't know that yet himself.]
My apologies, if I had said I was telepathic, that may not have been enough proof. Most tend to scoff at the idea.
And who knows what the next leap will be? If given the chance, the human race could turn into a whole new species.

And some use it. To what ends defines them.

Not even yourself, Mr. Riddick? It would seem gaining control would be beneficial to you as well.
