We don't know what that cost is, Cas. Nobody does. And until someone can point me right at it, I can't let this go. Dean needs us and I'm not going to stop until we get that thing off his arm.
You and Dean.. you're all I've got. I can't just let him go. I can't let him give up.
No, I agree, we need to have the Mark removed, before either Dean does something even more insane, or hurts someone else. But Rowena, and the Book of the Damned...
Are you absolutely certain it's a good idea to trust her?
[Frustrated and tired, Sam rakes his hands through his hair. He doesn't have any answers and the clock is still fucking ticking.] No. I don't trust her. But for right now, I need her Cas. I need her to read the damned book and find out how to undo that mark so I can save my brother.
I couldn't save him the last time, Cas. I couldn't save Dean from Hell. I have to save him this time.
We will find a way to help Dean; but we should also be looking for a way to find him so we can prevent anyone else from being hurt.
[Although how they're going to manage that, he's not sure yet. He pauses, watching Sam, knowing how well his next suggestion is going to go over before he even makes it.]
Whatever happens, I think you need to stay away from Dean for now.
[Yeah, that's a big ol' no right there. Sam pulls a face and pushes away from the table.] You know I can't do that, Cas. He needs me. I have to find him.
He came for me when I was trying to beat Lucifer. He came for me and he was sure that was going to be the end. Cas, I can't. I can't leave him to face this alone.
((ooc: Maybe fast forward to after the Darkness escaping? Or just AU the heck out of it?))
[Castiel wakes on the floor of the distillery with a groan to the sound of his phone ringing. There's no sign of Crowley anywhere, but he can't quite recall what happened, so he assumes with no sign of a body the demon managed to escape. Wiping at the dried blood around his eyes, he digs in his pocket for his phone. There's a sigh of relief when he notes the caller ID is displaying Sam's name.]
Cas? [So, so much relief to hear his voice. The Impala had barely managed to weather the storm of.. whatever the Darkness was and he and Dean were alive. Safe.
Time to regroup because it seemed like once again, the Winchesters were at war.] The Mark. It's gone. But it unlocked something, Death said it was some kind of key. Locked up something called the Darkness.
[Oh great. Because they don't have enough trouble on the horizon. He doesn't mention Death, doesn't mention the showdown he'd had with his brother or the fact that he had very nearly died.
Shut your eyes Sam.]
We're okay. The Mark, whatever Rowena did, she broke the curse. Dean's okay but we're stranded out by an old Mexican restaurant for the moment.

We have to try.

[He sighs heavily.]
Unfortunately, however, I think we're running out of time to find another solution.

I can't just stay away, not when we're so close.

Sam, listen to me. We both know how the story of Cain and Abel ends. If you try to confront him alone, and he loses control again...
Keep calling him. Try to find out where he is, but please do not go after him on your own.

((So, so sorry for the delay. Maybe Sam calls Cas after the storm of Darkness and we can wing it?))
