[Owen had seen to the other girls as they settled into their new home and now it was time for him to check in on Charlie. It's been a bit of an adjustment being back in the states with a trio of genetically engineered girls, but Owen's been doing the best he could. An old friend (one with an amazing rap sheet) had helped him set up identities for the girls, establishing him as their guardian. If anyone asked, they were his sister's girls and he took them in after she and her husband died. No one needed to know that he never had a sister.
Owen had found a nice little farmhouse in a town that wasn't on any map. Each of the girls would have their own room and plenty of land to keep themselves occupied and out of trouble.
He leans in the doorway, arms crossed over his chest as he watches her with her things.]
[Keep occupied and out of trouble? Owen, please. There is still plenty of trouble for the girls -- and especially Charlie -- to get into. Even in a small town.
At the sound of Owen's voice, the girl looks up, shrugging. She's still not sure what to make of the man who took them from InGen's lab. He seemed nice enough, definitely nicer than the doctors had been...but everyone had an ulterior motive. So what was his?]
[ Blunt, as usual. Blue lounged in the doorway, eying her sister with a lifted eyebrow. She hadn't brought anything with her to this "new place", save for what clothes she stuffed in a duffel; it was better not to have possessions, Blue'd learned about three places back. Just brought shitty memories, they did. ]
It's not junk. [It is, mostly -- aside from her clothes, ipod, and cell phone. Most of it looks to be the kind of trinkets one would find in tourist shops. Little glass animals. Snow globes. Stuff easy to steal.]
[Let him have his fantasies of settling down on a little farm and raising four genetically engineered human-dino hybrid girls like they're an ordinary family.
Really, he has no idea what the hell he's doing. Beyond getting them away from InGen, Owen hadn't had a clue about what he was going to do with them. He just knew he couldn't let them be used. The prospect of his raptors (and he will never not thing of them as his) being used as weapons had been bad enough. He couldn't imagine allowing them to use the girls that way.
So, really, he was going to just wing it. Which, let's face it, that's what he's best at.
Also, note to self. He should really call Claire and update her on his situation.]
Yeah. Soon as everyone gets settled in, I'll take you to the mall. Or...whatever passes for a mall out here.
[Pack animals, huh? That she could understand. If teenagers functioned in packs, she and her sisters would have no problem fitting in. Grinning, she turned to Owen.]
I'm the one who's supposed to keep you three in line, remember? [ Blue snarls slightly. ] The "beta" of our little family, that he reminds us seven times a day.
[A small snort escapes Charlie at the thought of Delta fretting. Something she does tend to do quite often. Blue may be the beta and the de facto leader of their group, but Delta was definitely 'the mom'. The one who made sure everyone took a jacket and/or ate something. It was quite amusing.]
Nowheresville, USA?

How's it going?
Works for me!

Fine. Helps to not have a whole lot to unpack.

None of them had any clue what they were doing. Especially not Charlie. This was all still so new to her.
Which is why, at the mention of the mall, she fixed Owen with a blank state.] The what?

He's used to the look Charlie is giving him right now.]
The mall. It's a place people go to buy things. Clothes, furniture, books. Stuff like that. Teenagers like to hang out there.
