Ahh, I see. So what stopped you? I can't imagine killing family is an easy task for anyone but I'm getting the sense that he did something particularly egregious to you.
Being himself was enough of a reason. Unfortunately that opportunity was taken away from me by someone else. As always I'd have preferred it to be my own hand.
{The witch's lips quirked softly in amusement, when didn't a sibling seem to be on the hybrid's bad side? Still, of them all, Kol seemed like the least imminent problem.}
[When Klaus finally looked up at her it was a strange feeling of family he was still getting used to but at least there was that bond of knowing what sort of parents they had brought up with.]
Let's just say I found out Kol wasn't as loyal to the family as I thought he was. I always knew he'd like to play games but the lies between us was deeper than I thought.
But no matter, he's not here anymore. [There was a little smile as he took a sip of his drink.] But enough about my dislike for a sibling. What are you doing at a bar this late? Checking up on your big brother now you found him?
{Yes, their shared childhoods. In many ways Freya had come to realize, she and Klaus were the most alike in that respect. Both had been raised never feeling like they would ever be good enough; had learned early that betrayal was a part of life and the best way to defend against it was cunning. It was no wonder then, that he was the hardest of the remaining siblings to win over.}
Deep enough to want him dead? {Freya traced the edge of the napkin beneath her drink. Her eyes never leaving the hybrid's} You may not always agree with Elijah, Niklaus, but he is right; there's power in family. Not isolation.
{Meets his smile with one of her own.} Is that not my duty as the eldest sibling, to look after the rest? {As she had Finn before Dahlia had come for her.} They are known for getting into quite the bit of mischief.
“In case you haven’t realized, I’m not as weak as the rest of our family.” Nik had purposely taken upon himself to have the role of black sheep. A title was only magnified by the actions of his false father. “As for you duty you can choose to have a care free approach as Elijah has taken it upon himself to brood and worry over our actions.” In a roundabout way that was Nik saying she shouldn’t spend her time trying to watch out for all of them, not that it wasn’t appreciated but they were a complex and hard bunch to be related to. Did she really know what she was saying?
"You're far from weak," Freya agrees, "but no less isolated." Either by his own choice or the demons of his past. There were scars there that would never heal, not completely and they hindered his interactions with everyone in his life.
"He has," this time she fingers her talisman before continuing. "But forever is a very long time. Even the most steadfast of guardians will require a reprieve now and again." If not for Hope and Hayley, Freya is quite sure Elijah would have fled New Orleans the night Esther and Dahlia had died; his grief for Gia had been practically tangible. "And as I told you once, witch allies can prove valuable. Davina is likely to be rallying the witches against us."
Nik finished his drink before leaning over and taking the bottle. “So what are you saying, I should let you watch over me?” another glass was placed beside his and although Nik’s words could have been taken with hint of pushing her away, still the second glass was filled as if asking her to join. “After all these years you’ve found your family and now you want to look after them. Touching.”
Never the less her words were true and having a witch on their side was what he needed at this time. “What are you expecting in return?”
Freya gave him a clear look that said: As if you would allow such a slight, to appear like one needing protection.
"You are my family and I yours, like it or not; part of me will always feel driven to protect you. The same as Finn, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol and Hope." At his second point she added, "You can support or denounce my choice, Niklaus, but I am simply happy to have it all."
The blonde sighed, eying the glass he had seemingly poured for her. "The same thing I have asked of you from day one. Acceptance; it doesn't have to be battle between us. I am not your enemy."
That must've taken some doing to get that wild city under your thumb - points for you! I wouldn't mind seeing it again, if I had a proper guide I'm sure it'd be even better.
Nik couldn’t help but feel that stubborn sense of Elijah in her. Dedicated as it might be, he wasn’t about to change her mind so Nik accepted the fact she would be around. Perhaps in time she might come around to his way of thinking, more so if they could put their differences aside.
“Then I’ll accept but my condition is you focus you’re protective nature onto Hope more than anyone else.”
You should! They have entire seasons of TV you can binge watch. I'm not terribly good at paying attention though when I paint. I either end up distracted or unfocused.
It would be a challenge, learning to work with him, but Freya had long come to accept that fact. They were too much alike to expect otherwise.
Freya nods in answer. With he and Elijah at odds, Rebekah off to find a way to bring back the very brother Niklaus now doubted and Hayley trapped as a wolf in the bayou...Hope would need all the protection she could get.
"Then allow me to craft a talisman for her, a way to contain her power until she is old enough to wield it herself. It will only continue to grow."

But I'll bite - what makes you say such a thing?

Yes, lazy. I don't get time to watch Netflix but sometimes I have it on while I'm painting.
