I can be useful when I'm not wallowing. And I think I found the guy who's behind all of Nicole's trouble. Or at least a guy that has a pretty clear motive.
I kept smelling something around Nicole and around the building. A weird smell. Not the day to day stuff, you know? So I followed it. [Which means he shifted and went traipsing about New York as a large, black wolf.] Lead me to a motel. To a guy named Phillip Kim. Who has a very unhealthy obsession with my ex-wife.
I think he's doing this because of Nikki's touch. It makes sense. She explained to me how bad it can be. That's why I came to you first. Do you think you could cure him of his addiction to her? I could try to talk to him, cure him and get our money back. If he won't go for it than...I tell Nicole where he is and she can take care of it.
No. [He shakes his head.] I'm worried about some guy who is obsessed with Nicole hurting her. We make his obsession go away and he goes home. No one has to get hurt.
He has a wife and kids. A pretty normal sort of guy. I think it's worth trying. He found her because of me. In his room he had every tabloid our pictures have ever been in. I'd like a chance to fix it if I can.
Oh, lord, you've made this about you. Tabloids aren't the reason he's doing this, Sam. He's doing it because of Nicole. You just happened to be in the crossfire.
I know it's not why he is doing it. Just why he was able to find her. She was exposed. Nicole is careful about that kind of thing. I want to help because yes, I feel some responsibility for her being exposed to some guy that's stalking her and trying to ruin her life.
You don't know how he found her. You're not the only one who's had her out in public, you know.
And it doesn't matter what kind of guy he was and just because he has a wife and kids doesn't make him Father of the Year. He's been under a thrall and chances are he isn't just going to shrug that off. He may be even more of a threat.
I understand that. I still feel like I have a responsibility. Even if that doesn't make sense to anyone else.
I know. I'm not saying this should be the only course of action. Or the only thing we rely on. Just a first step. If we know who he is, he can be watched. And if it doesn't work, he can be dealt with.
He should be. [Sam nodded.] I'd like to but I understand that you probably don't think I should. I do understand that I'm not trusted. Would you go with me?
Trust has nothing to so with this, Sam. I'm concerned about your safety. This man didn't do this the easy way. He's smart, secretive and crafty. He could own that motel and have it booby trapped for all you know.
I mean in the case of him having traps or anything like that. I figured I would just take all of the computer equipment he had in his room and give that to you. Great.
