"Hmm I guess I did..." Waylon said, realizing that yeah she was kinda right, but thing was that he heard American Pie on the radio just a bit ago and it gave him an unexpected flood of memories.
Waylon smiles and laughs lightly, "Well have you heard about the day that music died? Buddy Holly, Valens and a couple others died in a plane crash, that was Feb 3rd," Waylon said before signing sadly, "It's also unfortunately a fixed point...I wanted to prevent it but I couldn't."
Rocking on the heels of her laced leather boots, "Doubt you're upset about the Tulip Mania (1637) or the Soviets landing a craft on the moon (1966, unmanned). Although," an impish grin at the wicked reverence to age, "You might still be in mourning for William IV, Duke of Aquitaine (died 995)."
"Replay William IV with Buddy Holly and 995 with 1959," Waylon said in a friendly manner before pausing for a second, "That's one of the cons about time travel, there's these points in time where you can't change them no matter wait, called fixed points. That day is one of them....I'm a Time Lord, I can travel though time and space," Waylon added, not wanting to give her any unneeded confusion about what he was talking about.
A dip of curtsy, accompanied by the silky swish of layered skirts, incongruent with the day and time, this day and time. "I'm sorry for your loss." Then a veer, "Can people be fixed points? or just the day and event?" perfectly serious. Didn't question his time traveling however.
"Yeah I was, and even if I did end up on it I probably would've regenerated and still lived..." Waylon said melancholy, feeling the guilt of not being able to prevent it coming back again, "Buddy was the first here that I told who I was, a Time Lord...he taught me not only about the music business but he helped me learn some of your Earth customs too...this part of Earth anyways."
"Just the day and event. People can't be fixed points," Waylon answered after thanking her for her condolous, "Believe me I tried to save Buddy, he was my friend and mentor," He said, he was even suppose to be on the plane but switched out at the last minute. He still felt guilty though because even if he was on the plane, he still would've survived via regeneration.
"He was. I still feel like I could've prevented it Rosco...I mean I'm a Time Lord, you think I would be able to but I couldn't," Waylon looks at Rosco, feeling like he is about to shed some tears, "Buddy did like the few trips we took into space. Even had an high adrenaline adventure or two," Waylon softly chuckles at the last part.
"You're a Time Lord, not God. You got limits and you can't blame yourself for that," Rosco assured him. "I'm sure he did. That's kind of you, y'know? Giving us a chance to see all that?"
"Yeah, I'm always happy to share the wonders of time and space with my friends," Waylon smiles, and Rosco was right he wasn't God, "Did I tell you the time we traveled to New New York way in the future and we ended up having to stop some catkind bad guys from trying to control all the humans there?"
Waylon couldn't help but let out a small laugh, distracting him from the events of the day that had happened back in 1959 aka The Day That Music Died, "Same thing, just a shorten version of February isn't it?"
"It is," Waylon said grinning, already feeling better from the distraction that was provided, "And Buddy was like you...one of my smarter companions that don't go pulling stupid get rich quick schemes haha. So anyways the whole started when Buddy overheard some cat people nearby when we was both in a cafe and he hears a troubling conversation about wanting to control humans and make them their servents. I was ordering and getting our drinks when he came up to me and done told me about it. I guess the cats that was sitting behind us didn't realize they was talking loud enough," Waylon started.
A purse of lips, considering. Arm wrap around her middle protectively, shielding. The confidence and curiosity has turned to wary introspection. Decided, she shares, "There's a night of fire and bears and no matter what my brother and I do, no matter which one of us is there or is not, that night always comes. In every layer, every universe he and I can remember experiencing, it is the same, even if we might not know at the time that it's always been that way."
This is crazy talk, stuff that could get her locked up. That and its sharing a story that was only between herself and her twin.
Waylon was admittedly getting a little lost, he wasn't sure what she was trying to get at with the razor thing, "Yeah?..." He asked confused but went on anyways to clarify himself on what exactly happened that day, "It's the day my friend and mentor died in a plane crash."
Waylon nods, getting what Rosco saying. He likes cats and dog the same however, "Well first we went back to our seats so I can overhear the convo, I got a good amount of information that they was up to something. So we waited until they left, I told Buddy 'Looks like we got an ourselves an adventure' then we both got up to go follow them, figuring they was going to their hideout. We were careful of course not to be seen and we didn't want to jump start anything without evidence you know. We heard plans of then using a hypnotizing machine on the humans to make them their ever loving servants. We had to stop them. Seems like they had already put up a a few hypnotizing devices around town to amplify the single coming from a main tower. We also wanted the police help to arrest them at the end so we decided to go fine and grab a device as evidence," Waylon continued.
Waylon was a bit surprised at that, he didn't really have anyone tell him he should shave in a while and he wasn't gonna start now. He may have been clean shaven at one point but he likes the beard enough, and it was gonna stay, "Thanks for the advice ma'am but the beard is staying. And Buddy Holly was my mentor. He helped me in a lot of ways, musically speaking and he helped me to blend in better among y'all."
"Why do you even care about blending in? No one blends in, even me and
I've got the most normal life anyone could ever have. I am sorry that he's
gone, but you could always make more friends."
"I didn't want anyone giving me grief about being an alien, it was the early fifties 50's back then when I landed. I see your point though and I have made other friends, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Loretta....you tend to make quite a fewfriends when you're a singer in Nashville. And then there's the friends I have down in Hazzard County, Georgia."

"It's five letters." Brynn counts them out on one hand. "The same amount of letters as the word razor."

"Your beard? I was saying you should shave." Brynn sighed"So The Big Bopper was your mentor, or Buddy Holly?"
