Han tucks his tongue thoughtfully into his cheek for a moment. You can't go into negotiations seeming too desperate, though, in this case ... he is. What else is new. He's gone and made a bet with a Chagrian card shark that he can't yet cover. And he needs money fast.
"Is that so?" He says with his lips twisting into a friendly smile that still somehow seems a tad smug. "And what does her highness have in mind?
Being desperate is definitely the last thing one wants to be. But she is a little bit desperate herself to get her thing from one place to another as private as possible. Her being a princess, her title makes her a bit of a target, since what she has on her is quite an important magical artifact and an interesting one as well.
"Credits mainly, or anything else you need. Looking at you, you could probably use your fair share of credits." She said. "All I need is someone to get a certain something somewhere. Fast."
As she talks, she reveals a small looking package, letting him get a look at it while not wanting people in the crowd see it.
Whoops. Should he have not called her 'her highness' so loudly? He's suddenly getting the impression that this lady has got a little heat on her that she's trying to avoid. He will strategically position the expanse of his back between her and most of the possible onlookers and take a lot at ...
well ... whatever that is.
He presumes it's a religious artifact because he's really not been exposed much to magic, but honestly, he doesn't care what it is if the money is good.
"Why don't we go for a walk?" He murmurs. Towards the docking bays where all the spaceships are, isn't that convenient. "You can tell me about where you're headed."
Well, she was the one who came into the situation calling herself a princess. So not too many people can really blame him.
The item was indeed magical that can be passed off as something religious to some people. Heck, Stella wouldn't have minded if people assumed that. It would probably wind up making the whole thing a lot easier for her to get to her destination.
"Sure." She mutters back following his lead. "I'll need a bit of privacy and a few minutes."
Hrm. She's so worried about being overheard she doesn't even want to talk about it while they're on the move, huh? Well, now Han's eyes are weaving through the crowded streets and looking for the out of place sorts of things that he's always had a gift for noticing.
He can't see anything in front of him, but it's a lot harder to tell if you're being followed without arousing suspicions. Unless you're one of those sentients with eyes in the back of your head as well as the front, anyway.
They begin walking through the concourse of the large port. Anything that will dock a couple of hundred starships will take some time to walk through, but eventually they'll get to the bay where Han's ship is. It's locked by a keypad with a code mutually agreed upon by Han and Chewie. The Captain jabs his fingers into analog keys and when the passcode is entered successfully, a heavy durasteel door slides open to reveal the Millenium Falcon.
With what she's holding, it would probably bad news if it was found and messed with. Stella followed, weaving through the crowd after Han, keeping a brisk walk a few paces back of him.
Noting that no one seemed to bother to want to follow them, it did make her relax. Even if it was only a little bit.
The size of the large port and the time it took to get to their destination was no real surprise. And she damn near frowned at first sight of the Millennium Falcon, not that she was expecting a super fancy luxury ship or anything. Just so long as it can get from one place to another in one piece is good enough for her at this moment. Better than nothing by a long shot.
The old YT-1300 doesn't look all that impressive to anyone, usually. The exception is usually they've seen her and her pilot in action before. The fact that she doesn't outright balk at it and Han doesn't have to immediately jump to a combination of defensiveness and reassurance, he takes as a sign of trust. Or that this princess is more well mannered than most of the people he gets jobs from.
And since she still doesn't seem to want to talk, he supposes he'll let her up onto the ship. She seems trustworthy as far as he can tell. And there is a pretty fiercely loyal Wookiee on board if she starts getting shifty.
The Captain walks, with a touch of swagger, over to the control panel hidden in one of the feet of the ship. He then deactivates the security and lowers the ramp.
For those who her, this is the most quiet about something she has ever been about anything. Ever. This one is normally the first to complain about the looks about something that is presented to her.
Since the two of them got to this point in the major plan, she assumes that he is fairly trustworthy as well. If he wants to do anything, now would be the time to it. Then again, she is confident in her own magical power that she can blast him away with one good spell.
Walking behind him, but giving some good space she watched as the ramp lowered completely.
"Captain first?" She suggested. Yes there is some trust with her, but that can only go so far.
Eh. Trusting Han Solo is something of a mixed bag. Especially at this age. He's old enough to have been burned by a lot of people he trusted, but young enough to have not yet made the acquaintances that bring out the best in him. Best bet is to align your goal with his. That works ... most of the time.
He turns, rolls his eyes when he's no longer facing her and holds his hands up. Then he begins a slow walk up the ramp.
"You know, your ladyship, I'm starting to think all this walking behind me is because you enjoy the view."
"You wish." She huffs "It's called being careful."
She marches right past him and onto the ship like she completely owned the place. Pretty much giving a mild shove as she made her way, nothing that will really get Hans off of his feet. Mainly to prove some sort of point on her end, since she sometimes has a short fuse with some people.
There's the attitude he was expecting when she mentioned her Princess status. Putting down and pushing the humble working man. Stamping around like she owns the place. That attitude is so irritating to him. And hot.
"Alright sweetheart," He says folding his arms across his chest. "I can't very well raise ship until you at least tell me where we're going."
She twirls to meet the smuggler, long blonde hair swooshing behind her as she does so, locking her eyes onto the other person.
"We are going to the planet called Nyx to deliver what I have on me. This particular item that I have is quite important and if it goes into the wrong hands, it will be quite bad to say the least." She explained "And who gave this to me said to try this particular planet, because it is one of the more guarded places other than the Omega dimension's ice prison of a deathtrap."
He raises his finger to point it at her and ... either say something glib or to tell her to stop ordering him around like he was one of her subjects. He's not quite sure. And he stays just like that for a second or two, like he's got something on the tip of his tongue.
And then, he starts to think about what she's saying. He realizes he's not even familiar with where she's talking about. That ... makes this trip at least kind of interesting. And something he might be able to string her along for a little extra if it's half as dangerous as she claims.
"Hey Chewie ..." He calls out loudly enough through the ship that his co-pilot is likely to hear him. After a moment or two, a distinctive bark answers him. "... will you bring up the Omega dimension on the nav-computer, I want to take a look at it."
"So," he says, turning his attention back to the blonde. "You and your cargo are important. The trip sounds pretty dangerous. What's this escort worth to you?"
"Sure." She says, typing in the coordinates into the nav-computer. "I say 'dimension' when I should really say 'Solar System'. Galaxy is way to generous of a term for a small handful of lonely ice planets."
She takes a pause after the question was raised. That was a fair enough question, so she figures she could make some offers for the trip. Something may be better than nothing right?
"Credits? Supplies? Looking around you could use both." She said, giving Han her full attention. "My eternal gratitude can't pay anything last time I checked."
Wait, she's what? What makes this lady think that she can just waltz into the cockpit and start touching his nav-com? He takes just long enough to raise the ship's ramp and then he's chasing after her. Literally chasing.
"What the hell, Princess?" He does look a lot more miffed than he was when they were talking at the ramp. "I don't even know your name. What makes you think you can touch my ship?" Though, he does have to admit that he's surprised she even knows how to use a 60-year-old nav-computer. And she's actually managed to pull up the map on the display. Huh.
Han's partner makes a loud grunt from the copilot seat that sounds like he's asking a question, to which Han replies, "I'm handling it."
The wookiee then makes a sound that sounds very close to a human snort of disbelief.
"Yes, I am." The Corellian pilot insists.
Han takes the spunky blonde woman's hands gently into his own, because nobody gets to touch the controls that he just met unless they're getting shot at. Then ... you gotta bend that rule a little, obviously.
"I get the impression you don't deal with men like me very often." He says, most of the fire of anger traded for an almost dream-like murmur. And if it's true, he'll try not to take advantage of that fact too much. "Yes, I want galactic standard credits. I don't accept blank checks because I don't have anywhere to cash them, so perhaps we should negotiate a sum."
"And your gratitude, that I'm expecting thrown in as a bonus when I come through on this little trip you want to take."
Where she’s from, she’s very good friends with a very tech savvy person, and she talks about tech a lot. So it stands to reason that she would pick something up, and it just so happens to be this, which is super handy when you consider it in the long run. And she is fairly used to do quite a few things by herself when she wants to them herself; she’s fairly funny like that, especially the waltzing in part. She really does do that a lot. It annoys people to no end, and she mentally reminded herself not to get overly mad that Han gently yanked her hands away from the control panel. And yes, she hardly deals with people with him.
Trying to ignore the hairy guy he called a co-pilot that was making questioning grunt and snorting at Han, glanced him over and looked up at the face. Yup, he was a rugged, handsome guy. Figures.
“I can guarantee that there are no blank checks with this.” Stella assured him. “Good to hear that gratitude will be considered a bonus. So, what are your rates?”
Remembering that he had a point in the introductions bit.
Any Captain worth his salt is protective of his ship, right? It ain't personal, Princess. He's just protective of the things that are important to him and there aren't many things more important to Han than his YT-1300.
And it so happens that yeah, he is pretty good looking.
Damn, he was hoping to get her to make the first offer so he could drive the price up. She might not deal with many scoundrels, but she knows better than to be the one to make the first offer, apparently. "Sounds like a 17,000 credit job to me."
He ... probably should let go of her hands now. Right? "Han Solo, Captain of the Millenium Falcon" He says by way of introducing himself. "My partner is Chewbacca."
Pretty much anyone can understand that line of protectiveness that people like a Captain has to one's ship. No matter how rundown it looks to anyone else.
Damn her for thinking it and damn him for being him.
Basic bartering 101 if anything else. Stella has some experience in this field of work, whether it is shopping (when bartering is appropriate) or listening in to her dad negotiating with anyone that came to the palace. But at this moment, she was not at all in the mood for that or making the first offer, hence letting him go first.
"17,000? All right." She replied.
And yes, that would be appreciated. Stella glancing over at the hairy Wookie, raising an eyebrow to reel it back a bit.
If he's being honest (and he wouldn't be) this self identified princess is exceeding his expectations. She figured out the nav-com and she knew better than to make the first bid when it came to negotiating. She's ... more than just a pretty face, apparently.
Chewbacca grumbles something and Han shoots the wookiee a look, but that seems to be the the end of the exchange.
There are more important things to do right now than talk. The sooner they get this ship in the air, the sooner they'll get paid, after all. He studies the map on the display for a few moments. Mostly he wants to see if there are black holes, asteroid fields, novas or anything else that would make traveling to this Nyx planet difficult.
Han presses a couple keys and throws a switch and the computer begins to calculate a route to the Omega system.
"It's gonna be a long flight, Princess, this place is pretty far."
