[She holds up the bit of lace. It was nice to have visitors from far
off kingdoms and Lady Morgana had hailed from a kingdom to the far south:
Camelot. She laughs awkwardly]
I'm so sorry. At least Olaf left the handkerchief instead of a carrot or
twig. How are you finding Arendelle otherwise?
It's very different to home, snow doesn't linger so long there... it's kind of fun. [What with the walking snowman, or the reindeer who she suspected would begin to actually speak any second instead of just having Kristoff talk to it.]
My apologies. And I do thank you for taking your time to come to Arendelle
and help set up our University's astronomy program. Your work has been
highly praised by your colleagues in Oslo.
Oh, don't worry about it. Geography is hard enough. I thought you guys were just a province for a long time!
[Guess she shouldn't think the world revolved around her own country...]
But you're welcome! Did your librarians set up a budget for books? I don't know if you want to include textbooks for references or just books about the various topics in general.
Our collections are large enough to count as reference books and we have
people whose mission is to go into the world and collect more and more
books for our collection.
[The walk around the new University campus is nice and Elsa wants to
ask as she had not had the opportunity to go out into the world as of
yet]
[Jane is sensing that something like that is going on.]
The portal question? Definitely. But I'm not a biologist, so I can't answer those questions. But I do know a few people who would be able to help with those. There is this girl, Jemma Simmons, who is literally a genius.
Theoretically! We are still working on actually making it physical, but the math is all there. There will be some delay, of course, but instead of taking you a few thousand years to get from Point A to Point B, it will only take you a few seconds.
Or, if we cannot get something to create enough energy to support it, we might have to modify it so it will only take a year at best. But from what I have learned about some other technologies, there is a way to overcome that.

We do have seasons here in Arendelle.
[She's about to explain their kingdom when she realizes--]
Oh! Do you mean Olaf? He's ah...well he's special.
no subject
An astrolabe?
[She turns it this way and that, peering into it.]
I think my father had one. What kingdom was it that you said you came from?
no subject
Olaf is part of it, yes. Though perhaps I could live without being hugged by snow again, I got a little chilly and he started to get a bit warm.
no subject
He's just friendly.
[There's a fond laugh]
But I'll see if I can tell him to stop. What is Camelot like?

[She thought that as a Queen, she would know that! Unless she was not from Earth?]
no subject
[She freezes a little]
Why? Is magic not tolerated in Camelot?
no subject
[She gives an embarrassed laugh]

...is there magic in the United States?
no subject
[Despite the bite to her words, there's hurt somewhere in the deep green of her eyes, she shrugs.] But we are not in Camelot.
no subject
[She relaxes. Only minutely]
And is this why you are here in Arendelle?
no subject
[Now, if only all schools in the US could do that.]
Magic? Um. It depends upon what you define it as. I think that magic is just science that we don't understand yet, but the line is blurred sometimes.
no subject
[This gets her attention even more]
Jane, would it be possible to explain all magic, then? In due time?
no subject

Then you will be able to explain how portals work from one place to another. And how powers are passed from one generation to the next.
[She almost wants to stop Jane in their stroll and get her to start.]
no subject

You have no idea how pleasantly surprised.
no subject
Then tell me of the portals, Jane. Can it lead one place to another in an instant? Can it change and warp time?
no subject
Oh? How long had you been wandering for?
no subject

And how long do you wish to stay in Arendelle?

[She holds it up]
It ensures your gowns are not wrinkled in your travels?
no subject
This is delicious.
no subject
Yes, the parents hate wrinkled gowns. You have to stay in character or else you'll get bad reviews.
[It's bulging with princess gowns]
no subject
Don't worry, that is still a while off, and it will be expensive. I don't want you to have to raise taxes or something!
no subject
Not long. Trouble soon follows me, I wouldn't trouble anyone with it. I am glad of the visit, though.
