[Watching animals climb into moving boxes]
Don't think they're gonna like getting boxed up.
I dunno... They don't look like they're helping much.
No, but they're trying very hard. Would you like to hold one of them?
aww... I dunno. I've never been good with pets.
Cinnamon, come say hello... [A brown and white kitten peeks out of a box and stares at Richard with big eyes] Why aren't you good with pets?
I never had them growing up... [He looks at the kitten curiously]
That does not mean you're not good with them. [The kitten climbs out of the box and walks over to Richard, then softly meows]
She wants to know if you have food. [Cassie sighs, and gets up to find the box with the cat food in it. The kitten meows again.] That was a 'hello, feed me.' She likes you.
...how can you tell all that from a little meow?
It was a different meow than the first... I can communicate with animals.
Really? That's great! I talk with aliens, but lesser evolved lifeforms are too complicated.
They help me do my chores... Aren't aliens generally like us? [The kitten stares up at Richard, meowing louder.]
Aliens? Yeah. Some of them anyway. Some of them aren't.
[He looks at the kitten and then her]

I have not met any, that I know of.
[Now the kitten rubs against Richard's leg, and meows again]
The cats don't do much, other than clear their toys away, if I am to be honest. I have others that - haven't you seen Cinderella? They all help in different ways.
Not too many of the weird ones on earth. There's an embargo.
[He looks at the kitten rubbing against him and then back at Cassie]

[Cassie smiles a little at the kitten]
The cats and dogs don't have the dexterity, but some smaller animals do. You should pick her up...

[He looks down at the kitten]
I thought cats hated to be picked up.... How do I do that without hurting her?

Oh... [Cassie walks over, and neatly scoops the kitten up. She ignores the glares from the kitten and offers it to Richard]
She wants you to pick her up, and she's still young, so this is a good chance for her to get used to it.
[He takes the cat, very gingerly and awkwardly]
No, put your hands like this... [She tries to demonstrate how to hold the kitten a little more securely]
Uhh... [He struggles with that, trying to shift and adjust the kitten]
No, that is wrong. [And now Cassie will try to invade his personal space, and try to adjust his arms so he's holding the kitten correctly.]
[The poor kitten is getting jostled and bumped around]
