Um... about what? Something specific, or just life in general? [He can't answer that or help relieve whatever stress she clearly has going on unless he knows what exactly the question is, after all.]
Ah, well. My brother is a scientist and they're making a lot of progress in specialized glasses that allow colorblind people to see the full color spectrum. Nintendo finally admitted the creator of Pokemon has autism, which has a lot of autistic kids really excited, because Pokemon isn't exactly a small franchise. Experiments on rodents in Estonia are showing there may be a chemical combination that completely stalls lymph node cancer without the need for chemo.
...I have a pretty nerdy family, this is the sort of thing that comes to mind. Is any of this helping?
The news about Pokemon really... it has more of an impact on kids, I think. Being told you can't do things and then finding out the guy responsible for your favorite games is like you is a big thing for kids. Personally I find the cancer treatment the most fascinating. Even if it hasn't moved to human trials yet, it's unique in its' approach. Theoretically it could end up being one of the cheapest cancer treatments in human history.
Things aren't entirely bleak. But, well, my father always said I suffered from 'chronic optimism', so if I go on about science for too long, feel free to tell me to shut up. There's a lot of amazing stuff out there, you know? Like video games that have been proven to slow the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's. Little things like that we don't think of as having value are actually helping people without us knowing. The world is a good place.
Of course I've named them. Ball of Cuteness One, Ball of Cuteness Two....[She winks to signal that she's joking.] Figured I'd let their new human name them. And definitely giving away, although they have to go through the Ezera test first.
Well, tell you what. Why don't you come over to the club later and I'll have you meet them. And then we'll see how it goes. [Ezera truly believes that dogs choose their caretakers.]
For the type of person that Ezera is, it's amazing how horrible she is at asking others for help. Does she need it? Hell yes. She about to answer that 'no, everything is fine, just enjoy coming here' but then she thinks, 'get real'.
"Actually, yeah, the truth is that I'm swamped. Emcee, my co-manager, is a just a bunch of cocksplat. I could really use some help with some general stuff that's super important--social media, costume cataloguing, helping with the run-through during rehearsals..." Honestly, the list kept going.
"I can help you with those things. I actually had a job cataloguing at a record store. I know how things work on stage."
Cassie wanted to be helpful, she liked being helpful, especially to friends. But she also needed to do something other than sit in her apartment, finding projects to do.
"Awesome! That's really amazing, thank you. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. And, of course, we will pay you for the work. Ah!" She added quickly, with a raised index finger, "I don't want to hear another word about that. For the next few weeks, we'll need you nights since we're in production. And then it'll be some days when we're rehearsing and preparing the next performance. Good?"
(ooc: feel free to post anything about working at the club or stuff at the club if you want in the future. Mi casa es tu casa. ;))
"I baked four dozen cookies this morning. Having something to do outside of my apartment is a big favor, and working on stage reminds me of when I was a kid. My Father worked with performers and I spent a lot of time backstage, or sitting out of the way somewhere during shows. Do you want me to bring the cookies in tonight? I have a habit of making large amounts of food..."
(ooc: Thank you! Just assume Cassie shows up, unless she is trapped in a tower or something :D )
"Cookies." OhmyGod. "Yes, I think you'll fit in rather nicely. And the troupe will love you for it." She mused wisely as a jest. "Oh yeah? What did your father do that he worked with performers? And have you ever been tempted to go into the performance arts then?"
"I only baked chocolate chip and sugar, but I can do many others." She was
always baking, or recreating things from Pintrest. "I'm not sure what he
did. He made sure that everything was done, that the talent was happy. I
think he did some promotions too..." Cassie smiled "Yes, I used to pretend
that I was one of the artists, and I used to be a Princess. That was a lot
of fun. I gave my gowns to someone else, so I'd have to get more costumes
before I do that again."
"Only?" Ezera said in wonder. "I can't even boil water properly. And you only made two types of cookies. To the gallows with you!" She yelled dramatically with a giggle.
"A princess, huh? Which one was your favorite?" She asked and then something else dawned on her. "Oh, hey. There's one thing. I mean, not to make a big deal out of it, but you'll likely run into my co-manager, Emcee. Just...um, you know, he can be difficult at times. Just don't pay him any mind. If he gives you any grief just let me know, ok?"
"I spent a lot of time cooking and baking... it all comes with practice. I burned quite a few things when I first started."
Cassie smiled a little "I liked Cinderella, but I usually ended up dressing as Tiana or Jasmine." She was used to people being difficult. "It's nothing that I haven't handled before."
"I will bring you plenty of baked goods." Cassie volunteered.
"Yes, to both. My clear shoes were much more comfortable than they looked. I altered them, and I would slip them off when I sat down for craft time. They never noticed."
"Occasionally would be just fine." She thanks with a smile. "Otherwise, the gravitational pull on my derriere will never let me make lift-off on the routines we do. And think of those poor men that would have to lift me."
The thought made her laugh.
"It sounds like you were really into it." She says with a smile of approval.
"...Occasionally." Cassie was still young enough to have a really high
metabolism. She could eat and eat and never gain an ounce.
"I loved it. I liked becoming a princess for kids, they loved every bit of
it. They would get immersed in that world, just for a few hours. I loved
being able to do that."

I want to hear happy things.

Probably not. What was it?

I picked someone who deserved it, though, I promise.

You enjoy that quite a bit, don't you?

[Cassie smiles] Thank you.
All of that is really good news. It is excellent news, though I have not played Pokémon. The cancer treatment is reallly groundbreaking.

That is wonderful! Have you named them? Are you selling or giving away any?

That is wonderful! I would ask for one, but I am sure you have a list of people willing to take them. I usually adopt strays.

I have one, Shadow. He is true to his name. I had others, and cats, but they have new homes now.
I've got a real soft spot for animals. I take them in whenever they need help.

I will... [Cassie believes that too]. Speaking of, do you need any help at your club? I have far too much time on my hands lately.

Sorry, I lose replies sometimes!
Cassie smiled a little "I liked Cinderella, but I usually ended up dressing as Tiana or Jasmine." She was used to people being difficult. "It's nothing that I haven't handled before."
No worries!
Ezera nodded. "Cinderella. Girl with the uncomfortable couture footwear. Jasmine. She's from Aladdin, right?"

" I have not tried to get back to that kind of work. "
