[Turns around not realizing Clarke was there.]

Clarke. Octavia asked me...[She still struggled to show emotion.] nevermind.

I'm happy you're here.

[Clarke was able to sneak up on Lexa? She must really have been distracted.]

Were you looking for me?

[Clarke was happy to see her too. She was the one good thing in...all of this.]

[Lexa knew someone was behind her but was taken off guard. Not that she would admit it but she had a lot on her mind. Octavia's question stuck in her thoughts.]

I am. We need to talk. Privately.

[She told her men that no one was to disturb them unless it was completely necessary. Lexa still kept her cards close to her chest.

Leading the two them to her tent and motioned to a map set out on the table in front of them.]

I don't want others to hear what we are talking about. I think someone has betrayed me and I can't have them thinking I am on to them. [That was part of the reason, the other part was because Clarke broke down Lexa's walls and although she tried not to show it, sometimes, like now it was hard.]

[Clarke wasn't sure what Lexa wanted to talk about, but she was happy to oblige her. They had common goals, but it went beyond that.]

Okay. Well, who do you think it is?

[And were they betraying Lexa because of skaikru? Not everyone agreed with the alliance. Clarke was well aware of that. She studied the map Lexa was showing her.]

And if you don't have any theories...how do we find out?

[Clarke was very much a doer, always looking for a solution.]

[Lexa watched her, trying to focus on the task at hand.]

I do not know. But I plan to catch them. I am sending some of my best warriors here. [She pointed to a place on the map.] It's away enough from the camp that I can call it a patrol.

I'm telling you because there is a good chance this person might not be acting alone. We need to watch both sides.

[She sighed.] Unfortunate timing.

What made you suspicious in the first place?

[ Clarke was curious because most of Lexa's people seemed very loyal. And if someone was betraying her, it was likely because of skaikru. And Clarke couldn't help the guilt she felt over that. ]

It's always something, isn't it?

I might be busy leading my people but that doesn't mean I don't hear things. I have been suspicious for a long time. All I need is evidence.

[When Clarke said that Lexa stopped staring at the map and looked up.]

We have to take the good days with the bad.

[Closing the space between them Lexa stood in dront of her. Eyes locked.]

It won't always be a battlefield out there.

It feels like it will, though.

[ Ever since she'd gotten here, it was like everyone was just fighting so hard to even survive. And it didn't show any signs of stopping. ]

It just always seems like something is going on.

[ She looked at Lexa, and offered a half-hearted smile. ]

We'll figure it out though, we always do.

We do. [Lexa mirrored that smile back at her. There was a lot she wanted to ask but for now it can wait.]

This can wait for sunrise.

Something else you want to talk about then?

Are your people expecting you back soon?

No, I don't think so.

[She went to the table to the side of the room, pouring them both a drink.]

Rather than talk about how one of my people might be betraying me, how are things with your people?

[Clarke sighed.]

About the same. As frustrating as ever.

[She passed a drink to her.]

Do you get challenged for your position?

[ Clarke took the drink and nodded in gratitude. ]

It's different for me, Lexa. I mean...I never wanted any of this.

We don't ask for what happens. Situations are given to us for a reason. I didn't expect to become a leader at my age but like you, people look up to me.

It's just...ever since we got here, it's been all about surviving. When do we actually get to live? Is that even possible?

There will always be battles which is why we should enjoy these moments while we can.

[Soft smile.]
