I didn't realize it was that late. [Chuckles and leans back in her chair looking up at him.] I'm starting to realize why I'm so attracted to you, we have almost too much in common.

I hope that's a good thing.

Well, you haven't run away from me yet. [She chuckled. She had started to tell him her story and it hadn't seemed to dissuade him.] No, I'm crazy about you. Just sometimes I also feel a bit crazy.

Long, and complicated. There's a lot I need to learn, and it feels completely different from what I'm used to.

Sounds like you made quite the move.

I did, but I think it's for the best. I was feeling complacent, and here I get to work with someone who I really admire.

Sounds like you got things going for you then.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Only cautiously? Expecting everything to turn on its head soon?

I've done the same thing for 25 years. I'm entitled to a little skepticism as to whether or not this old dog can learn new tricks.

You don't look much like an old dog to me. I think you ought to have a higher opinion of yourself.

It's a figure of speech. [Chuckles.] And I'm trying. But this is new. I was the best at what I did, now I have to learn to do it all over again. It's not the place to have an ego.

[Dodged that one he thinks.]

It's a process, I'm sure. I have had times when I don't know the best course of action. It wasn't the place for an ego then.

Yeah. So we'll see. At least I have a boss who I already trust, and I'm going to have to trust him to teach me the ropes.

I can't really compare as I'm my own boss.

I wouldn't want to do that. Too many headaches for my taste.

It's a freedom to decide for yourself what you wanna do. I do have some people to order around too.

I think I gave my last boss a migraine. And then I felt bad, because Riley's such a good guy.

This new one, though, I have my hands full.

Those under me feel more like my brothers. We have a tight-knit relationship.

So did me and my former colleagues. That's part of what's making this transition so hard. I feel fairly alone.

I can imagine. I wouldn't know what to do without my brethren.

I feel like I'm missing an arm, honestly.

[Shrugs.] You took a chance. No point in second guessing yourself now.

That's not second guessing myself. That's acknowledging that I'm missing my partner, not thinking I made a wrong decision.
