I've come to appreciate it. Though perhaps I stated it wrongly, with certain people, one can be at peace too.

I won't say I don't enjoy being alone now and then, but to always be alone seems a sad fate.

(She has dealt with loneliness and loss enough to know she will always reach out to others.)

When the other option is staying under the yoke of a tyrannical mother and an even worse intended, even the saddest of fates seems a relief to me.

[Helena sighed, though she offered the other woman a smile. ]

I am sorry you were put in such a position. (She had a tyrannical brother once and a frightening husband (who actually turned out to be one of the loves of her life) too. Both of them are long dead now, of course, and she has new man in her life.)

Sadly, it’s something that has taken me a while to understand. [She admits, and then observes Daenerys with curiosity, a soft smile drawing on her lips.]
