She tilted her head slightly to the side, studying him carefully. A gentle and kind person, she hated seeing others suffering or in pain, and her mother's cousin positively radiated such burdens. His fëa seemed heavy and wounded, and she wanted very badly to help ease his pain.

"And why is that?" She asked. "You have done ill deeds, yes, but that does not mean you do not feel, and it does not mean you do not deserve to mourn."

Those with kind hearts can easily be used. Maedhros doesn't want to draw her into his dark world; she doesn't deserve that. He needs to lead her to a safe path - away from him and the curse he bears.
