See while I can see why that upset you, using a spell to transform them into animals over it, is too far. Using magic for selfish reasons have terrible consequences. At least that's what my mother instilled into me.
It wasn't selfish. These were ancient men whose mothers apparently never taught them that telling a woman to calm down is the most effective way to escalate an argument. Especially when she is trying to eat her dessert.
Have you ever been married? How would your wife respond if you talked about her like she was a child, interrupted her dessert and then told her to 'calm down'?
Yes I have been married indeed. I certainly knows that she'd not be pleased with me would I treat her in such a way. Mind you that it was another time with different ideals. My wife was a strong willed woman though and I always listened to her advice. [Almost.] Alas the same isn't true for Gannicus and I can only apologize that he hasn't learned since then. He's a good man though. Just with rough edges.
He is a good man, which is why I did not turn him into a mealworm. Gannicus just needs reminding of manners, now and then. *sad smile* My former husband once saved Gannicus from certain beheading, in France, centuries ago. Gannicus feels an obligation to look after me, since my husband abandoned me. It is a strange thing, since my husband was once with the Roman legions.
You know, Gannicus admires few men...but you are one of them. He holds you in high regard. When he speaks of you, it is with respect.
I'll not argue with you there. As for your husband, it's not that odd. Not all Romans are bad, a message I've been struggling with instilling in my men unfortunately. I'd serve with the Roman legions myself as part of the Auxiliaries. It's the leaders and aristocrats that is the problem. The legions simply follow orders. Gannicus was also a free man, unlike most of us, he won his freedom in the arena in Capua. Free men will always be treated better.
I'm touched by being one of few that he respects. We may have had disagreements but in the end I respect him.

[He can't help smiling even as he tries to remain somewhat serious. ]
Not that I'm supporting that sort of way of dealing with people or anything.

They were being smug, and acting like I was a child. Further, they told me to calm down. Have you ever told a woman to calm down? Not effective.

I consider it a public service, really...

Not sure I agree with that. The public seems to not look at magic kindly. At least not in my neck of the woods.

It will wear off...eventually...*grins*...and probably in the most inopportune moment.
In the future, both men will treat a woman with more respect. Considering both are Immortal, generations of women will thank me.

Let's hope there won't be an public outrage and Salem 2.0 in the meantime.
Sure... Glad I don't have to deal with that whole thing. Men are easier.
