"I know it won't be easy but we'll get through this somehow," David assured. He tried to convince himself of it, too. He already lost her once and he didn't want it to happen again.
You say that but you're the one who's mostly been giving me the cold shoulder since I've been back. (Sighs.) I just want you to not be mad at me anymore.
"You were gone for 5 years.. We thought you were dead." The wound would take a while to heal fully. The loneliness took its toll on David and it's something he still struggles with. "I don't blame you. I just want to understand what happened."
"I know that, honey. That's why I'm so confused." He pauses to look at her, seeing the pain and sadness. "You carry such pain for something.. It scares me. What happened to you?"
I spent five years fighting for my life. Ripped away from you and our daughter and terrified I was going to die. You'd be better off asking me what doesn't hurt, David.
