Um. To be honest. The person accidentally tapdancing on boundaries is usually me. Stupid suckers are just hard to see!
Most people, psychos aside, don't mistreat you for being good, sure. But, outside of law enforcement, if they're mistreating you for being bad, they aren't any better.
If only it were that simple. I am in far to deep to quit and too many
people would be hurt. Can you think of anyone else who would pay a salary
to some of those that I employ?
I think something that does bring me joy is organizing all of it. I smiled
after finishing a spreadsheet this morning and linking it.
Alex probably would. [It's out before she can stop herself, she didn't mean to volunteer him, but it's probably true.]
Okay, if all you like is the spreadsheets, then let someone else take over the more dangerous and darker parts of it? Or... turn them into a force for good. Y'know? Send them after criminals instead of being the criminals.
He is a really good person. This may sound radical to you, but I am not
giving control of my portfolio to a white aristocrat, even if he is a
saint.
You make a good point, but there are some covert operations run from some
of my holdings, as well as they are used to keep an eye on the so called
‘rejects’. I could separate myself from it more, I just worry that mistakes
will be made. I’ve heard so much about previous problems, and people like
Jackson getting in.
None of the rejected so far are as bad as Jackson, but some really are
rotten people, to the core. I will talk to Janie too, but she will threaten
to do it herself and I have a directive to do anything I can so that she
doesn’t overwork herself.
…what if I cut time from my daily checking on the crime cohort? Most of it
is chatter while I check my phone for notifications. I think the chatter is
part of why I feel like I’m running a criminal empire. and leaving
Shadow in a room with the worst of the worst
[Mia chuckles] You're smart. I know some people that would say never give up any power, but if it's not making you happy, then what's the point?
Sounds like you have a few paths you could take. First, you have to decide what level of power and oversight you're comfortable giving up. Second, you need a second in command to run the daily operations for you and be the face of the operations while you just do stuff in the background. You could still have some oversight over the rejects -- those are the rejects from Nexus, right? -- and all the new hires, just to be safe. And like I mentioned, you could have a mix of so-called 'bad' and 'good' operations.

*Pretty heavy for a kid who looks sixteen, but he's given this some thought lately.*

Aren’t people judged by the sum of what they do? I suppose you have a good point, though. Especially for one so young.

It would.
Do people overate boundaries and mistreat you for being good?

What are you talking about?

I am a capitalist now. I stopped thinking with my heart.

You don't have to be one or the other, you know. You can be both. The universe isn't so black and white.
Didn’t get the notification, sorry

So... how does one avoid psychos? Is there a repellent?
No worries!
[Yes, Mia oversimplifies things sometimes]
