Huh? You mean that creepy looking Angel in the graveyard? [ At least when she passed it on the way to the academy it's back was turned to her so she's still safe right? ]
The Doctor spun on his heel, one tweedy arm flailing like a strange scarecrow traffic warden auditioning to be a dancer, whilst the other held a bizarre lash-up device that whirred and clicked and occasionally (and for no apparent reason) went ding!
He caught the flash of red hair and pale features and it caught him off guard more than the answer to a question he’d asked no one in particular.
She was just musing too honestly, though the angel in the graveyard she sometimes skirted on the way to school was creepy. Though when the man flailed she paused, her hand instantly going for the stun gun that she might have borrowed from her dad, that lived in her school bag.
Sorry Doctor, this isn't the redhead you're looking for, though she has some of the same qualities.
"The creepy ol' angel statue. It always gives me the creeps, worse at night but it's easier to cut that way than going three blocks up then over because Dad says cutting through Hell's Kitchen after dark is far too dangerous." Boy if he knew that she was hanging out with a vigilante most nights, she'd be grounded for three lifetimes. Probably locked up in a loonybin too.
"I mean you were talking about statues right? I mean it's the creepiest out in the open. Though there's quite a few in the Met too. But those didn't just appear one day already weathered. This one, I don't remember it being there a week ago and it looks like it's about a hundred years old." Pepper leaves the sun gun away for now. "It's got freaky pose too, like it's reaching out for something."
The girl spoke casually but what she said sounded bad. His brain threaded points together at the same lightning speed she was speaking.
—appeared one day— —already weathered— —the Met—
“Ohhh, this is extremely very not good.”
He glanced at the sky and saw the light was a burnt gold against grey dabs of cloud. He wasn’t sure whether it was dawn or dusk so he glanced at the inside of his wrist and remembered.
Oh yeah, time traveller.
As if on cue, the lash-up warbled, fidgeted and dinged! for good measure, reminding him what was at stake.
On the off chance it was what he thought it was, it would’ve been easier to leave the teenager and go via the TARDIS. But the Doctor couldn’t risk it—that kind of food source was exactly what a Weeping Angel needed if it was dying.
"Okay hm... when the adults say not good... How catastrophic are we talking?" Hey she's already been kidnapped a few times thanks to just being friends with Tony. Aliens? Well she's met Thor. So yeah that won't bother her, but she'd like to know if she should text her Dad to have him block off the park just in case it's really bad.
She watched his face a moment. "If you fill me in on what you think is going on." Hey if he knew about what was going on, then she'd be able to relay it to Tony, if he'd ever pick up his damn phone. Come to think of it she couldn't get a hold of Rhodey either, or Maria who was on the 'Do not call unless world is ending list', and well usually if she couldn't get a hold of Tony, things were that bad.
Pepper tucked the hair from her face glancing the way that her school was. She could afford to miss that comtec exam anyway. She was working with state of the art stuff hanging out with Tony, made what they worked with at school seem ancient tech in comparison. Though so did her cellphone. And it was only a month old. "The old church is that way." She pointed the way she had come. "Now really how much trouble is this? Because I don't want to find out others got hurt when I could have done something to stop it."
Maybe the whole heroing night gig she had with the boys was starting to rub off on her in a good way....

Is it—?
It wasn’t and he refocused.
“Sorry, the creepy what in the where?”

He’d have to ask for help.
“Can you show me?”
