"Coppers?" [Danny repeats -- the accent has him thinking it might be slang, but just in case the man's meaning is more literal, he digs some change out of a pocket and sets a penny to floating around his hand.] This kind, or...?

Ah, [Danny says, and lets the penny drop into his palm again. He smirks a little.] Is that what "ACAB" stands for, then? "All Coppers are Bent"?

[narrows his eyes a bit, searching...] "My corollary would be ABCAB...All Bent Coppers Are Bastards. My team and I, however, are not 'bent'."

[Danny nods at the man's reply. He keeps his tone mild and agreeable, hoping to make up for that first misstep in the conversation,]

Always good to weed out those who don't have integrity. Public opinion is so low for all kinds of government organizations these days.

"My life's work. Weeding that lot out. Disgrace to the uniform and the good it can be used for to accomplish. Bent coppers are bastards" [doubling down on his disgust of bent ones] "Of course, that isn't saying that my team and I can't be bastards when it is needed." [winking and offering an olive branch]

[Danny grins at that 'olive branch' of a wink.] Takes a bastard to catch a bastard, sometimes, in my experience.
