Love shouldn't be a military weapon.

Should it not? It is the greatest weapon of all, military or otherwise.

Not when you're unprepared for the consequences.

Preparation would defeat the purpose of a weapon.

Not when you're speaking of the one acting, rather than the target. In this case, my partner going into a situation he wasn't emotionally prepared for.

I see. Forgive my curiosity, but how should he have prepared for it, Madame?

Honestly, I don't think he could. He's not made for such work. He's a strong man. Very strong. But it... you have to be a lot more detached and less caring about your fellow man to do what he set out to do and not lose your heart as well. Most can't do it.

Detachment from humankind is not as difficult as one might be led to believe.

It is for some. For others we can turn it on and off like a light switch. My partner isn't one of them. He's a good man.

What is he being sent to do, Madame?

Get close to a woman who's father was wanted. Get very close to her, gain her confidence and get what we wanted.

He fell for her.

Always the failing of man.

He never should have been put in that position. The Director should have known better. She was more worried about her case than her men.

Is that not always the case with those in power?

I thought so until this assignment. I had begun to think differently. But she perhaps needs to think about those she's angering before she does it.
