Do you believe in God?

Why?

I don't know if I believe in him, or more that I want to believe in him.

My mother was Catholic. She had an unshakable faith that helped her in her darkest times. I like to know the why of things. But there are times when pragmatism and all reasonable explanation have left the window - what else is there?

I want to believe because the alternative is far too lonely.

Yes. I don't really know how to explain why. I think that's part of faith.

I'm Catholic but I don't think any one God trumps another. I've been a little lapsed lately with my religion but my faith is always with me.

I do!

I believe because... I see. God just is. I'm not talking about the gods- I'm talking about a force that just is and always will be. I usually don't make sense when I explain that.

Absolutely. Always have.

You could say it's how I was raised - which it was, but when I grew up into my own mind I realised it was better to live with arms around you, then nothing at all.

And before you say it, Pym, I know people tend to lose their faith when bad shit happens. It solidified mine.

Your curiosity'll kill you one day, Pym.

Yeah. Me and the kids.

No.

Do I really need a reason?

[identity profile] artoflabor.livejournal.com 2008-08-30 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Life's hard. Wouldn't be that way if he existed. Praying don't work. Maybe God just don't listen. Wah wah. Gimme a tissue.

Yes. Though I am afraid the reason may be far too complicated for most to understand or believe.

Very well. I was created by God to watch over the buildings and those who dwell within them.

I thought you were avoiding this topic, Dr. Pym. [Grins]

[identity profile] literary-james.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I think the whole thing is intriguing, just the idea of a mass of people putting faith or belief or stock into something they cannot see or feel or touch. It sort of goes against all logic.
