A handshake used to mean something.

It still does in the right circles.

It is extremely difficult to find the proper circles where a handshake and a gentleman's word is still meaningful.

It means nothing to me.

What do handshakes mean to you?

[identity profile] star-core.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Handshakes have nothing to do with that. ... Other than on Earth.

We don't need human businesses.

...Human businesses. Businesses... run by humans. We don't need them.

...I didn't say we don't need businesses.

I think we can handle it.

*wobbles, probably slightly intoxicated...or more than slightly*

What?

What does this have to do with handshakes?

[identity profile] bijouomipolone.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
*blinks, surprised* Yes, of course.

[identity profile] bijouomipolone.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Black Sambuca, neat.

You don't seem much like the drink buying type. *wedges cigarette between lips, lights it*

[identity profile] bijouomipolone.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Would I? Good. I like being surprised.

*shot arrives and he drinks it*

*tries not to screw up face like an eejit, fails mostly*

*cough* Yes. How about you, you alone? It probably goes without saying. Everyone in this place is alone. Everyone in this city.

No, they didn't. Not really. They were always reliant on two people keeping their word. Anytime more than one person is involved chances are that someone is going to break their word and no handshake will stop it.

[identity profile] reportresurrect.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Good luck with that. I'm finding people particular difficult to persuade today which probably makes my opinion biased.

[identity profile] reportresurrect.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for that. But if plain old fashioned eyelash batting won't do it I'm going to have to resort to arm twisting.

[identity profile] reportresurrect.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know how much good I'd do you. My attempts at arm twisting generally result in being patted on the head.

[identity profile] reportresurrect.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I've just had to come to accept the fact I'm not intimidating. I'll just have to rely on superior wit and intellect...and hire BIG people to do my arm twisting for me.

It's just a matter of finding the right minions.
