They saw their teacher die and then they're dragged into a police station. They're scared. Be their friend, reassure them they're okay and then ask them your questions.

You're not a stranger, you're a cop. Kids need to trust cops. If you think they'd be more comfortable talking to a woman, or if O'Hara's better with kids, let her lead.
