How do you define that?

Husband-in-law: The husband of an alternate version of yourself from a divergent timeline.

It's not something that comes up much - I'm thinking my chances of getting it into the OED are slim.

*blinks for a moment, then nods* That makes sense.

Given my husband situation, I don't think I want to know what alternate universe versions of me are getting up to. At all.

My HiL is the Gold Guardian, watching over life in the Universe, but he prefers to be called Ted. He's nothing like my husband, but I understand why other me fell for him.

That's something, any way. I'd hate to look and see I've fallen for some loser who can't commit or something.

But really, in the grand scheme? My two fiances are plenty of husband for any woman.

He is a good guy - almost like a brother in some ways. Plus he's built.

Two fiances? Wow. That's twice as many as I ever had.

I have some friends like that. Good guys I won't sleep with but I make no bones about looking. At all.

It's two more than I've ever had. *smiles* They were a couple, but I'd been casual with both of them before that. I came to visit and....never left. *laughs* Now I'm pregnant.

Honestly, figuring out a relationship wit Ted is even stranger then figuring out how to relate with other regenerations of the Professor.

Oh I don't know, it all seems fairly straightforward to me.

Who's Ted?

Very straight forward: this is the Doctor, my future ex-husband who also happens to be 'dancing' with my sister.

Ted's the Gold Guardian, who's married to a version of me that left the Professor and travel's around on a wicked time traveling motorbike.

See what I mean? Simple! Though I have to correct you; nobody's doing any 'dancing', thank you very much.

Aren't they? Too bad - dancing is fun, especially when it's done right. And the Doctor, he does it right.

A Ted's in charge of all life in the universe, and balances out the black guardian. Or somethng like that. And stand in line for the bike - I want one first.
