A sidekick who only says "Yes, sir, no, sir," etc. is not a proper sidekick. A sidekick should be ready to step in should something happen to the hero whether it's distracting the bad guy for a moment to give the hero a chance to regroup or getting the hero out of a situation by showing up in the nick of time. What is a 'nick of time'? Why is it a 'nick'?
