It was this quote, really the quote in its entirety, that...I think shaped a lot of who I am now, how I behave. I guess I was just...thinking about it.

I don't know. I must. It's the thing that's kept me from doing anything for myself in twenty-five years. Until recently, I suppose.

I know Twain was in a bad way by the time he'd written it, but...I can't help but wonder if there isn't some truth to it.

That's just not something I'm comfortable with. Best to put myself last and ensure that never happens.
