There are these two guys in a lunatic asylum that eventually manage to make a break for it. They get all the way up to the roof, and their only chance of escape is to jump across this gap to the roof next to them. The first inmate manages it just fine, but the second one is scared of heights and can't do it.

First guy gets a bright idea and smiles. He pulls out his flashlight and says "Oh, I know! I'll shine this over to the other side, and you can just walk across the beam, okay?"

The second guy just gives him this look and says "What, you think I'm crazy or something? ... You'd turn it off while I was halfway across."
