Someone explain women's love for shoes.

Some of them are, uh, shiny? Shiny is appealing, right?

Yeah well if I'm being honest here I have no idea either. But at least it's always an option when you need to get a woman a gift. I dread shopping, puts me to sleep almost instantly, so that helps.

Love? You think it's a love? Oh no it's worse than that. It's an obsession, unless you're me.

[identity profile] bright-n-bubbly.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Different reasons. Some make you look sexy, some make you feel sexy, some are just great for bumming around in and unlike guys who can just wear sneakers or black shoes, women's shoes MUST match their outfit.

They make us feel sexy. Instant mood shifting. You can feel like HELL, put on a hot pair of stilettos? And bam. The day is better.

[identity profile] deep-red-bells.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And what reasons would those be?

[identity profile] writer-sam.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I wear my Vans and Converse. That's about it. No love for shoes there..well I love those shoes but..you get it. Poor person's curse, or is it a blessing?

[identity profile] writer-sam.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. All other shoes are just to look good for the sake of looking good. It's not worth the pain, and money.

I'm supposed to love shoes? I can't stand the bothersome things!

[identity profile] adalia-krause.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see how I could love them, unless the were like not wearing shoes at all.

For me, I don't even know where to begin. I <3 shoes!

[identity profile] no-rainbows.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Because it would hurt to walk around barefoot all the time?

[identity profile] no-rainbows.livejournal.com 2008-09-08 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Smirks] So you're telling me that if we took the dogs for a walk in Central Park, you'd walk around barefoot?

There's power in a good pair of stilettos. Some are beautiful, most dress shoes. Some are comfortable, tennis shoes and the like. Of course, there are always the shoes that cross the line into fetishism. My spike heeled thigh high leather boots come to mind. Some are flirtatious, strappy sandals.

And of course there are the women who don't like shoes or don't care.

Not all power has to be over something. Sometimes it just is. But, typically? The male libido. But it can also afford height to a short woman, and height is unconsciously registered as power and strength. Of course, there are the women who can't walk in the shoes without wobbling or falling on their rear ends. There's no power in that.
