Usually, I'm not required to do a lot of running when I wear shoes like that. Usually.

Well, it's always best to be prepared! What if something happens that requires you to run? You'll wind up barefoot! Or topple down.

How can you see them as pretty? Proper boots, those are pretty.

They very nearly defy gravity! Those can't possibly be comfortable!

As comfortable as a pair of sneakers? No. However, some of the better brands, I'll spare you the names, do put a lot of thought and engineering into their shoes. And the really high ones are usually for special occasions.

((Completely off topic but unlike some other shows, I can't recall many of the actresses on Doctor Who wearing anything but sensible shoes. It's kind of refreshing. >_>))

In "The Stones of Blood" in series 17, the Doctor actually makes a point of telling Romana that her shoes are really impractical and she ends up stuck in the mud because of them.))

No. I do keep most of my shoes organized by season and only bring them out at certain times of the year. I keep ten to twelve pairs out at any one time.

Why, in God's name, do you need that many?!

I need them? There are work shoes. Party shoes. Special occasion shoes. Gym shoes. X-work shoes.

X-work? ... I don't think I'll ever understand it.

I work for X-Corporation in New York City and am with X-Factor part-time. I'd like to think that I have more common sense than to wear high-heels to that gig.

It's a bit more complicated than that. We're located in what everyone refers to not so affectionately as Mutant Town. Some things come up that other organizations can't or won't help with and that's what we deal with.
