Oh that is a fabulous opera. Wonderful music, and a much more deep and complex a story than one would expect from an opera. Have you seen the lavish film version made by Franco Zeffirelli and starring Placido Domingo? Great visuals, wonderful singing.

Oh I would imagine so. I live in Chicago, so I don't often get to go to the Met, but I have wonderful memories of when I did. Typically, even if it isn't at the Met, whatever the opera is it's still a fantastic experience to see it produced live on stage.

That film version of La Traviata was wonderful to listen to, and wonderful to look at. And again, it told the story very well. When Roger and I reviewed it during its theatrical run, we said that even if you bring someone in that doesn't like opera, they'll find the movie accessible and really get drawn into the story. It's just a great time.

What appeals to you about it?

A morgue. Hm.

It's certainly refreshing to meet another opera lover around here.

Well, yes, I was tending towards that rather than "professional necrophiliac".

It's an acquired taste.

My life and work have their stranger aspects, too.

Lionel Luthor. A pleasure to meet you, Dr...?

My daddy says opera is a very important form of Rock and Roll. People in Italy sing while they eat cheese!
