*brightens at that, becoming less jumpy, but he's still a little wary*

I see. It went well? *has been holed up in his lab for... he doesn't know how long*

That is good. Rodney is still in one piece? *he looks hopeful for multiple reasons, one may possibly not be the right one*

*he gives a genuine smile and holds out his hand to shake hers* It is always a pleasure to meet those who are kind enough to help us rescue Dr. McKay when he has been kidnapped ~~repeatedly~~.

I am Dr. Zelenka, *pauses, forgets himself for a moment. Jenny offered her first name, he ought to offer his* Radek.

*he sees you eyeing the device, Jenny, he's just not going to volunteer information right away*

*peers through the door of the lab, staying far, far away from the gender swapping pen of doom*

Dr. Zelenka, how's things?

*it's a familiar voice and yet Radek still jumps when he hears it... he turns around to see*

General O'Neill? *blinkblink*

That's what they tell me. Don't mind me, just making a visit for the IOA.

Much better than my last visit. So far, no one's tried to probe my head or drown me with a dead man's switch. I hear you're in charge of the pen.

Um. Yes. *he looks at the pen-like object--it's not in it's clear plastic box, General!* It appears to be an Ancient genetic manipulation device. Doctor Beckett said he was trying to fiddle with the settings on it to help pinpoint Doctor McKay's location for the rescue mission, and well, I'm sure you may have seen the result, General...

ooc: Hee, yes, he is... *meta!Radek blushes*

*keeps his hands in his pockets and just peers around Zelenka, not getting anywhere near gender swapping Ancient technology*

Well, suddenly turning into a woman is a little hard to miss. Even for the SGC. Any ideas on how to get them back? I'm sure they'd appreciate it.

[ooc: Zelenka's my favorite geek. Next to Carter, of course, but that's Jack's bias sneaking in there.]

That is true... *winces a bit, recalling his earlier interaction with Dr. Beckett while studying the device*

*his brow crinkles as he raises his eyebrows* To be honest, I think all they have to do is handle it again, and they'll be back to normal.

I just have to figure out the exact settings to reverse the process. *he picks up the Ancient device--without any sort of protection--and fiddles with a few buttons*

ooc: hee! it's a good bias! :D (I'm a McKay geek, m'self, but I have a soft spot for underappreciated characters, thus I have Zelenka!)

*eyebrows go up*

Uh, doc, you really think you should be fiddling with it? That's what landed Sheppard and Beckett in their current situations.

*he stops fiddling with buttons, and his eyebrows go up again as he looks at General O'Neill*

Oh! Um. It's... It's... I don't have the ATA gene, and Dr. Beckett's gene therapy did not work on me. There is no need to worry, truly. I cannot activate the device by holding it.

*he leans up against the lab's counter and gives a small Radek-smirk* It's the one time I am glad not to have the Ancient gene. I shudder to think of what I would look like as a woman... *Radek makes a face*

And that's why I'm staying way over here, doc. I've had enough Ancient gizmos mess with me in the past.

It'd also look pretty bad to the IOA if I returned as Major General Jackie O'Neill.

*ponders the idea of a female!O'Neill for a second... (deer-in-headlights? ah-yup)*

*blinkblinkblink* Um, yes. That would look... pretty bad.

*Radek has the bright idea of putting the Ancient device baaack into the small clear plastic box he's had on the counter all this time and securing the lid. Securely.*

All we have to do, I believe, is recharge its energy to the level Dr. Beckett had it at when he touched the device, then have the Colonel and Dr. Beckett handle it again, and everything should be back to normal.
