Poltergeist, the original. The sequels were pretty dumbed-down, but that one was good.

Alfred Hitchcock, or the old Frankenstein movies, were some of my all-time favorites.
--And my wife's big on Stephen King movie adaptations, though she likes comedy better than horror.
