Is sex the endgame of relationships?

[identity profile] writer-mel.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
No. It's a new stage.

For some people. For some the next stage is a different kind of friendship.

That depends entirely on the relationship. In my experience, however, it rarely is.

I have had various paramours and one husband over the centuries years. I do tend to build the friendship first, and if it moves into realms that are more intimate, at least there's more to talk about than just sex.

More than one of those men I enjoy a very good friendship with still.

It has been for me. :/

[identity profile] darling-lore.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, me too. Nah, it's not as tragic as I accidentally made it sound. I don't mind not being with the fellows in question, but... still. The ol' "men only want one thing" axiom comes to mind.

[identity profile] knowthenbreak.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 07:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I certainly hope not.

[identity profile] knowthenbreak.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 07:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, at present, I have.. er.. no experience with it, so I can't say for certain, but I'd rather like to think that there's more to a relationship after a couple's had sex.

[identity profile] fever-crusade.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely not.

Though that isn't to discredit its value.

...

If you don't know, I probably shouldn't be the one to tell you.

I think that's supposed to be marriage. Which is a crock, near as I can tell. They're both overrated.

[identity profile] mabofwinterdark.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That depends on the relationship and more importantly, the people involved.

[identity profile] mabofwinterdark.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends entirely on the people, but yes it can be. It can also be the beginning or the middle. You can't assume everyone is going to be have the same reaction.
