Which speaks louder to you: actions or words?

[identity profile] knowthenbreak.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Actions. It's easy to say something, harder to act on it.

[identity profile] knowthenbreak.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes people don't or feel they can't say certain things, so they do it with actions.

I'd prefer actions not backed by words to words not backed by action. Having both is ideal, but actions mean more to me.

Actions. Definitely.

Because people can say things and not always mean them. Actions are always more honest.

Neither is more important to me.

Yes. It all works together... if someone keeps saying they like me, but treating me terribly, I won't believe them.

And if someone treats me nicely but tells me they hate me...

Neither. It's the intent behind both of them.

[identity profile] firemotion.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Both can be used as a false front. If you can figure out the meaning and intent behind either one, though, it makes things easier.

If they aren't contradicting each other, then I'd say words. It's simply easier to fully and consciously understand what another person means by their words. But.. if they're saying one thing and doing another, then you can't really trust their words, so.. actions.

Bleh, I'm sorry. What a convoluted answer.

[identity profile] darling-lore.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's good to hear. (:

Why so interested in the topic?

[identity profile] layered-con.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on who's doin' the talkin' or actin', Red. I got some people I'd never believe anythin' comin' out a their mouths, others I know ain't got a deceitful bone in their body.

[identity profile] layered-con.livejournal.com 2008-10-29 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, certainly. Just used examples about the chattin' side of things. That's jist why it comes down to the person. No use havin' a set way of understandin' people, since everyone's different.

Because an action can't be taken back or denied. Because action is a form of commitment, whereas words are (at most) merely an expression of it.

But words are often more beautiful.
