It's an expression, kind of, when someone does something good, it can give them points, as if you're keeping score of all the good and bad things they do and you can balance them out in the end. It just means it's something positive about his behavior.

It's not a rule, but it is pretty common, the whole idea behind dating is getting to know someone better so you can find out if you are interested in starting a relationship with them or not.

Yes, that I know, it is just a very different experience actually doing it. I hadn't prepared myself for it.

Mostly, go as if you were just hanging out with your friend. Be yourself and try to have a good time, a lot of people pretend to be someone they are not while they are dating and after a while, the truth comes out and it destroys the relationship.
