*With that, he moves suddenly, much, much faster than a human could, and steps behind Sherlock.*

[Which was a move Sherlock expected. He calmly turns and faces Julian.]

Speed only aids you. I find the element of surprise much better.

[As he was speaking, he had made to use his foot to take out Julian's knee. He stopped, he was simply proving a point.]

*Having been in enough fights, with humans as well as other vampires, Julian has not only experience but also quick reflexes. He jumps back from where he's standing and is out of reach in an instant.*

But we make use of that, too, and speed is not our only advantage.

*He stays where he is, smirking.*

[He chuckles softly.]

*Julian smiles, but he remains alert, out of habit.*

I would, for demonstration purposes. But yes, I wouldn't try to hurt you.

[Yup. Sherlock just lost all interest in any competition.]

*Julian is confused.*

I prefer to be challenged.

[Sometimes that means getting hurt.]

Oh. Well, it wouldn't be a fair challenge.

[He smiles.]

You think I play fair?

[Sherlock raises an eyebrow.]

That statement doesn't make sense.

[He's tempted to correct the English, but holds himself back this time.]

I meant, you shouldn't play fair if you were fighting against a vampire.

Why? Because you are so fast? Or is the myth about immortality true as well?

No, it's not literally true, but we are hard to kill. Also, we're faster and stronger than you, and we have natural weapons.

*He raises his hands, showing the claws.*

And most of the time we don't have any reason to play fair either.

[Sherlock rolls his eyes and pulls out a gun.]

Then a bullet will stop your heart.

[Oh, he won't use it. He's just making a point.]

*Julian watches, seemingly unimpressed, and casually comes closer.*

Only if you don't miss. If you miss, your adversary will be an angry vampire, which is even worse.

[Sherlock grins and pockets the gun.]

Depends on where I shoot you.

[He knows physically where to shoot people that could be more debilitating and painful than a shot to the heart.]

*He's glad to see the gun gone. Having been on both ends of one himself, he has no desire for the thing to accidentally go off.*

I know. But again, you'll have to hit first. And you'd be unpleasantly surprised at what we are still capable of even when you don't miss. I've knocked out another vampire after having been shot and thrown through a window.
