"That is the politician you mentioned earlier right?" She kept working as she talked. Chatting every now and then was pretty normal in the shop. "I do not really keep track of politics. I am not a US Citizen so I cannot vote. But if he can help with this plan then I guess that is worthwhile."
Seeing there's no need for the ooc stuff. I love this idea a lot, it could make for a lot of fun in the end. I still haven't read the comics today, but once I get some free time I'll thumb through them to help with things.
"It is. I would rather bring my concerns up with him over Saxon, but seeing Saxon is council, I just might," Tony said, and he went to lean over the hood of the car. "You might not be able to vote, but you can still make your voice be heard."
It then dawned on him. "If you need anyone to sponsor you for citizenship, I might be able to help you with this."
Loki smiled, relaxing. If Thor was on his way and SHIELD knew about the portal, then at least a portion of their problems were already solved.
"I think that's wise, yes," Loki agreed. "I tried to explain to Mr. Stark, but he wasn't in a mood to listen. I think the fact that Clint and I both showed up here, in the same city, is proof that there is something here that Doom wants. He must not be allowed to have it, whatever it may be."
"My voice heard to whom? I spend most of my time here in the shop or at my own place." Where she was working on building a small forge.
Thetis thought about the offer. "That would mean forswearing any loyalties I have to other countries or foreign powers would it not?" Though HER Atlantis was in a different reality. Still, it was like giving up going home. She let out a sigh. "I suppose there is really no reason not to try for citizenship here."
"You would be surprised, the good Senator here seems willing to listen..." Tony pauses. "Sometimes. I wish he didn't sit on the fence when it came to dealing with that scumbag Black Arrow."
Tony went to work on the engine block of the car. "Yeah, I think that's how it works." Tony doesn't know the details of the purple mechanic's life, he just hired her to work for him. "That doesn't mean you are forced to give up your culture. I mean, look at New York City, everyone from everywhere on the planet lives here. Except for Antarctica!"
Fury knew that Thor wasn't on his way, but he could of used the help from the Asgardian. He takes in a deep breath. "This is going to be a long night," He says under his breath, as he tilts his head up to look up at the ceiling that Tony put a hole in.
"Please understand, that you," Nick firmly says, as he lowers his head to look at Loki. "Nearly destroyed New York City, and nearly handed the Earth over to it's new alien overlords. Tony's not exactly thrilled about this, and to be honest neither am I."
Thetis thought she felt her heart skip a moment at the mention of the Black Arrow. She had never met the man, but she had found herself dealing with one of his men when she first arrived. After realizing the Atlantis here was not hers, getting papers from the embassy wouldn't work. So she went a little less legal route. Just enough to have an identity, she had applied for her green card legally. She had no other real choice she told herself. Who would believe her tale?
"The only bit of my culture I really knew was all around building and forging things." She said. "My family didn't really live near much of anyone, let alone one of the larger cities. No... it is a silly hesitation really. I mean, it is just giving up something I have never really cared about in the first place so why worry about it, right?" She finished up under the car and was pleased to see it looking good. Thetis rolled out. "And it is a very kind offer for you to sponsor me."
Instead of running his mouth like he normally would, Tony took the time to listen to what Thetis had to say. He lifts his head up from under the hood, and he looks at the uniquely colored woman. "People still hold on to a lot of their heritage, America wouldn't be the way it is without a lot of the old values."
He reaches for a rag, and he goes to clean off his hands. "I've got a reputation to protect, and I'm not sure we met." Tony doesn't offer her his hand. "Tony Stark. And, you are?"
She paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to explain herself properly. "I am sorry. It is not a loss of my heritage that makes me hesitate, It is a loss of," And what was a good way to phrase this? "It is a loss of my possible inheritance." She gave a wry smile with a shrug. "One that I never really desired, am not prepared for and in the highly unlikely event I actually received it would be a nightmare to manage." She wiped her hands off and lowered the car. "So you see why it is foolish for me to let that hold me back from finding a more permanent standing in this country?"
"Thetis Delmar," She replied, "though most of the people in the shop call me Terry." She tucked a loose strand of hair back nervously. With her hair tied back just the slightest hint of lines on her neck could be seen.
"I'm not asking you to trust me, Director. I would not, were it me in your shoes. I ask only that you investigate and do not trust Doom, should he appear. He is somewhat charismatic. Ultimately, Clint and I wish only to return home."
"And, it's not old news here. I think everyone in this universe is entitled to hold that grudge," Fury pointedly says, to Clint about the entire attack on Manhattan.
The city was still rebuilding, and Fury was given a fresh reminder about on his drive to Stark Tower. "I'll be sure to do that, but I can assure you, there is no Doom here."
"And, that I think one Loki is more than what this universe wants to deal with."
"I'm not saying there not." Clint stated honestly. "I'm just relaying the fact." He rubbed the back of his neck. "There may not of been before but there is a very good chance there is one that followed us. And he's near as smart as Stark and Richard Reed. He's able to mix tech and magic."
"Well, of course, he can," Loki said, exasperated. "There's nothing amazing about that. It's common on worlds where magic is prevalent."
Loki smiled at Fury, the expression charming and apologetic.
"No, naturally, they have cause to be angry. I do understand that, Director. I am merely assuring you that I, personally, am not a threat and, in fact, would you be your ally, if you allow."
